Title: Not-So-Strange Error Message
Post by: Commander_Me on November 20, 2010, 07:28:30 am
Hi all,

Just downloaded Blue Planet Mod, great so far but I get this error message on start-up:

The following species are missing flyby sounds in sounds.tbl:
UEF

KERNELBASE.dll! WaitForSingleObjectEx
kernel32.dll! WaitForSingleObject + 18 bytes
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe! <no symbol>

fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe! <no symbol>
kernel32.dll! BaseThreadInitThunk + 18 bytes
ntdll.dll! RtlInitializeExceptionChain + 99 bytes
ntdll.dll! RtlInitializeExceptionChain + 54 bytes

Any ideas what it means. Also, I'm not getting any voice sounds is this related?

Cheers,

It means you did not install the mod correctly. Please read the release thread carefully, as well as the troubleshooting topic stickied here.

Or use the online installer from FSOInstaller.com.

Thanks for replying. I did originally the Freespace Open Installer. I'll try again.

Please keep in mind that in order to play WiH, you need to have the original Blue Planet installed as well.

Should that be the case, please read this post: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,56279.msg1180359.html#msg1180359 and follow the instructions there to generate an fs2_open.log, which you should post here.

No luck with the installer or reinstalling the Mod.

I've created the log file and attached it.

My system specs are:
Windows 7 - 64 bit
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 - clocked to 2.8 Ghz
4 GB Ram
Nvidia 460

Thanks for the help.

Code: [Select]
Initializing OpenGL graphics device at 1280x1024 with 16-bit color...
Change this to begin with. You should select 32-bit colour mode on the Launcher.

Code: [Select]
ERROR: The following species are missing flyby sounds in sounds.tbl:
UEF

File: gamesnd.cpp
Line: 349
Int3(): From c:\temp\fs2_final_export\code\globalincs\windebug.cpp at line 1155

This I'll leave to someone else to solve... :nervous:

Excellent that's fixed all the start-up errors. Thank you.

Is the there any particular setting I need to use to make the mission voices work?

Strange. You do have the voice files already installed; Is the voice volume setting set correctly?

Your problem was that you had data files from other mods lying around in places they shouldn't be, just FYI. Always be sure to keep everything in a mod directory (the INF thing wasn't) and to clean out old files if you're installing a new version of a mod, something the installer unfortunately can't do (blueplanet1.vp was from an older version of Blue Planet.)

Thanks everyone for the support. Everything is working well now. Like you said I just had to tidy up the FS2 directory. Great mod by the way  :D

It's a common problem with Inferno VP, since it was made for retail and thus, many people install it using the retail method, unaware that it could cause problems (Inferno readme doesn't mention it and they do everything according to installation instructions).
