Umm.

Can you do that again, without copyright infringement?

I realy dont understand this **** other fs members upload copyrighted stuff and dont get stomped on. others use .tbls and nobody complains, and for goodness sake the material with any copywrite is at least 10 years old.

I think direct links to downloads of copyrighted material are probably not a great idea...maybe. Distribution in mods is common practice because at least there you've got the possible, tenuous protection of fair use.

ah so it depends on how its clissified, fasinating. Alright then.

Look, it's rather simple. If you pack it up in a mod, noone's going to ask many questions about where you got it from.

However, if you simply distribute a music pack like this, it's a bit of a different issue, methinks.

I'm not even immediately aware of any mods that have used copyrighted content.  I'm not asking for them to be pointed out, just saying that even when it happens, if attention isn't drawn to it it's likely to not even be noticed.  And what do .tbls have to do with copyright?  Also copyright goes far longer than 10 years I think.

Its not like im making profit or even ditributing the entire sound track. and in the spirit of the law what i did was fine. But if this is somethign personal ill take what skills i do have where it will be welcome.

Look, it's one thing to include copyrighted content in a mod. It's another to offer copyrighted content as a free download.

Honestly, this is nothing personal or anything, just an application of one of the board rules.

I'm not sure what you did, I never saw what was posted.  But getting music that's probably already available through other means isn't exactly a skill.  Not sure what you did with the mainhalls though, would like to see that.

Weird. I wonder if he was reading the same thread we were. No reason to ragequit here.

Also wonder if he knows that player and user numbers are way up and probably higher than they were when the game came out.  :wtf:

Legal dubiosity aside, as a composer, I'd like to suggest that the community would benefit more from reaching out to young musicians seeking exposure for their stuff instead of ripping/rehashing commercial game or movie tracks for their mods.  Yeah it's an extra step, but it benefits everyone involved, and musicians are ppl too.  Hungry hungry ppl.

either way, community rules that apply to incidents like this are there to protect the community from legal action, if he wants to bug out because we choose to follow and enforce community rules then that's not our problem.

I smelled the rage at "I realy dont understand this ****".  Getting defensive when we try to discuss the issues with his presentation, etc, doesn't make one seem like an attractive member of the community is all.  And without any evidence of skills, we won't even know what we're missing :P

Interesting turn of events over asking for our opinions on something.
