Title: In search of a HUD
Post by: NeoKnight on November 28, 2010, 12:50:59 pm
Hello all!

I'm looking for a new set of HUD graphics to use in one of my projects. I scoured FSMods but was unable to find anything. If anyone knows of a user-made HUD available for use, please shoot me a link. I essentially need an in-game UI that isn't covered by copyright laws. Thanks. :)

They're often distributed with campaigns, especially TCs.
Take a look at BTRL, Ghost Revanents (http://freespacemods.net/download.php?view.470), WCS, Unification Wars, ect.

Would the teams of these respective mods permit external usage or duplication of their work? That would be my only concern in using these mod-specific assets.

If you're using it in another freespace mod, it's generally not an issue.  As long as you're not trying to make money off it or something, most of the MODers are pretty nice - although a formal request is always appreciated.

Thanks! This seems to be the best course of action. I'll be sure to ask mod leaders/teams for permission before using any of their creations.  And if anyone does stumble across a generic HUD set, I'd be much obliged if you could let me know.  :)

They're all generic and since BTRL team doesn't longer exists, I think you may not wait for premission.
It has too many good stuff to be wasted.

So true...

I'll have to take a look at their demo again. There are probably a lot of useful assets people could still salvage from it.

Sounds and gun effects are already in widespread use all over the community.
Explosions from there are also great and FPS-friendly.
