Title: Something useful for the video editors...
Post by: JGZinv on December 02, 2010, 12:47:40 am
Lightworks just made their large video editing suite open source.
Currently Windows only, Mac and Linux end of next year.

I saw this on the Blender website; now all we need is for something like FL Studio or Adobe Audition (0.02% chance of that!) to become open source, and we will have a full suite of free visual/audio software! I think I'll wait for it to become "stable" first before downloading, unless they take years to make it stable...to busy trying to get better at Blender 2.5x at the moment. Currently UV mapping is teh sux, but I can unwrap a GTC Great Big Cube if anyone wants... ;)

Cool, i'll download it and give it a try.

Other companys could learn from that example. I mean, how awesome would it be if 3DS Max, Lightwave, Photoshop, Aftereffects, ... would be opensource too?

it's called Audacity.

As always, I feel it can't hurt me to try this out ;)

Re- Audacity, I see it more of a goldwave quality app rather than a full solution.

what does audacity lack?

Soundfont support. A comprehensive sequencer, lots of stuff really which i'm used to using in other programs like cubase etc.

There's nothing wrong with audacity at all for sound processing. But as a full suite. . . . . It's not complete.

Edit-

This is wavering, I meant to ask if anyone has experience with the program of subject? Is it comparable to after effects or sony vegas?

I got it in a couple seconds....

Looks like a well featured video editor. Can't say much past that
as my previous experience is limited to vdubmod. It'[s free... so it's something to explore.
