Title: GTCv Deimos Specs
Post by: rscaper1070 on December 06, 2010, 12:56:08 pm
I've looked in the lab and the tech room but I can't find any physical specs for this ship. How many decks, length, width, height, that sort of thing. Is there a reference for this sort of thing or should I just make my best guess. Also how many people would serve on a ship that size would be useful.

The only information that is canon is the size. About 270 meters high, 220 meters wide, and 710 meters long.

Oh, and it has collapsed-core molybdenum armor.

Everything else you have to make up for yourself, as there is no canon info available beyond that.

Sorry, canon is insufficient here. As far as Fanon goes, in some mods corvettes even carry fighters so i think the "corvette" classification is more fire power concerning than that of a ship size. If you have time launch the game and count how many rows of windows are on the texture to get a number of decks, but those are fanon as well :D

Thank you. Yeah, counting windows occurred to me but I wanted to check before I started that path to insanity. :)

Most of the time, a random number between 1 and 10 will do xD

I think you mean "Canon" and "in FS2", seeing as the Moloch has a fighterbay subsystem.
Even if it never explicitly uses it in a mission, you can target it and see "FIGHTERBAY" written right there which means that. well, it carries fighters! :P

I think it was used in demo or some multiplayer mission.

Yeah, that too :P

Why do you bring a moloch here while this is about deimos?  :nervous: (ok, i should have said it's that but i meant the deimoses used in mods :P) An i'm not exactly sure, but the GTCV Parapet sent you a wing of fighters to assist in "into the maelstrom", thogh i don't know if it was a patrol. Come to think of it, i never even noticed the wing :O

Then again on my firepower classification, that would make retail FS2 lucifer a poor cruiser.....

I believe there is also a bit about it having a Vasudan designed reactor

Yop. <3 Zods for that. Funny, cuz their own corvette is inferior. If they at least armed it with double SVas, but NOOOO :(

The two VSlash will out-damage the four TerSlash, as I recall.

Not in the moment when two ships start cycling around each other. sometime the sobek winds up with such a bad bank that none VSlash can even fire. That hardly ever happens to Deimos as it has 1 flank beam on each side :) And i think it has been discussed many times that deimos is the king of anti-fighter defense. At least most of czech/slovak community thinks that :P AND WE AIN'T SMALL!

Your Deimos is nothing against the Aeolus.

For the sake of staying on topic, i'll compare:
Deimos:
Terran Turret    6
Terran Huge Turret    4
Standard Flak    6
Piranha    2
Anti-Fighter Beam    4
Terran Slashing Beam    4

HP: 80k

Aeolus:
Terran Huge Turret    2
Standard Flak    6
Anti-Fighter Beam    2
Small Green Beam    2

HP: 38k

I still bet on the Deimos. It last's longer against the bombers, and a single herc 2 with trebs can completely disarm the Aeolus. Not the Deimos, you'll barely make a safe spot for yourself. Then again maybe i just suck at being a pilot  :shaking:

What you don't take into account is that the Aeolus is a Cruiser, and just a quarter the size of the Deimos, with an absolutely terrifying degree of overlap between its turrets.

... Which is imho no good to it if you have at least tornadoes, because then youhave greater range than 1500 meters and nothing can shoot at you while you kill the turrets (not counting the AI shooting down a bomb with SGreen and accidentaly hitting me  ). The sheer amount of turrets the deimos has makes it impossible to disarm everything you need even with trebs (correct me if i'm wrong there, but nothing has enough capacity. Maybe the SOC Mara.)

Well there's always a support ship.

That ain't helping while determining what is better suited for anti fighter combat :P For the same reason i didn't mention the Maxim or the command deploying a destroyer :P Anyway this is going too much OT for me so i'm putting the lid on it. Aeolus is your opinion and Deimos is mine :) *Nohiki zips the lips

Ok, still trying to figure out the scale of things. If this guy is your average pilot's height, is he in scale with the ship?

Thanks I forgot about that. With them floating around as they go through the door it's hard to judge how it would be if they were just standing. Does this look about right?
