Title: Drama (split from Bug in
Post by: Stormy Fairweather on December 10, 2010, 09:03:56 am
I appreciate the help, E, and I try to be respectful of the rules of private groups, but I seriously hate having my posts edited. There is actually NOTHING that can aggravate me more on the internet.

I will chew on your reply for awhile.

The problem was that the thread title you chose was not well chosen. As your post was a bug report more than anything, it needed a title to match. This way, people will come at this with the right attitude.

This is not accurate. I had already researched the subject enough to know that it is a known bug, hence nothing is being reported, and I was seeking a way to cicumvent redoing something via the modding tools (the forum I chose) and was requesting a small file that I could mod, or pre modded, hence the title. I had speculated it wasn't the best way of addressing it, which is why I phrased in in an open ended manner.

I know you mean well, and are trying to create the atmosphere here that suits you and your club, which is why I tried to keep the hostility from my tone. That being said, it is more than a pet peeve, it is primal hatred. I would die for the right to say stupid things (although I try hard not to), or to phrase something poorly, in a heartbeat.

Either way, I have the information I sought, for that I thank you.

Considerig that out of my four threads, two were closed, one was split up so it could be closed twice at once, one was manipulated by a third party and relocated, and I had two moderaters say the exact opposite thing within ten minutes of each other (one of which was seemingly only there to comment that I did a 'thourough job' of making my own topic off-topic) I would say that I need to re evaluate whether this is a forum that I wish to be a regular member of.

Changed your title again.

Please stop drama whoring or you're going to see more of your threads locked. At least keep the nuttiness to GenDisc.

Go play some FreeSpace.

So you changed my post again for no reason other than to establish you can and because I stated how much I dislike it.

Then you call me a whore.

...

And you are a moderator?

Edit - However much I disagree with E, he had reasons for what he did. What I see from you is simply spite.

I retitled the thread because you suggested the current title didn't accurately fit the content. Now it does. I acted as per your request.

I didn't call you a whore. Nor can I control what you see.

Carry on.

You're all getting a bit too picky with him, aren't you? With all due respect to all the Moderators involved, I know what he feels, because I felt exactly the same when I first came here. That's why I left for a long time.
Don't take me wrong, this community has a lot of strong points, but I feel newbies aren't really welcomed when their first comments are mocked at and their threads are closed*. This turns out to be especially offensive when Moderators are involved, since they are initially perceived by newcomers as figures of authority and representatives of the best of the entire community.

And while I'm at it, it's quite annoying when moderators keep posting and discussing on locked threads (I mean, when posting something else than discussion on the reasons for the lock itself, and/or answering posts from normal users, which are then not allowed to respond back).

*: No, I don't agree with the cyber world war thing either, but it doesn't matters anyway.

Considering the message I got from Black Wolf trying to assure me that the nonsense I have seen here is not the norm, I must admit that I am a little disappointed to see the 'moderators' here are still splitting up my threads for no reason I can imagine aside from creating drama.

...Actually, disgusted may be a better word. I have done my utmost to maintain a certain respect for the rules specific to this particular club, and to make it clear that even though I disagree with many things done, or ways of doing things, that I respect the right of this site, this forum, and the moderators here to run it as they see fit.

Aside from the message I got from Black Wolf, and E taking the time to answer my questions regarding polices, I have recieved zero respect.

It is possible to disagree with someone's ideas, while still respecting them.

And out of curiosity, livestock boy, what kind of person would that be? Articulate? Reasonable? Respectful?

Forget it, StarSlayer beat me to it.

Oh dear.  You, sir, are going to get eaten alive with that kind of attitude.

Much like barging into a party to which you were invited only by a friend of a friend of an annoying relative and announcing your world view to everyone present (none of whom have a clue who you are) tends to cause friction and irritation, so does barging into a well-established forum and playing the indignant enlightened newcomer card.

This is a quirky, opinionated, well-established and not-always-rational community.  You aren't going to endear yourself to anyone by playing the victim.  Internet drama is tiresome for everyone involved, and people are just going to toy with you when you indulge in it.

Actually, threads are split usually to maintain coherency. Especially if the original topic is still of interest, but the rest of the thread has, for whatever reason, wandered off-track.

Well, sometimes you catch the GD hivemind in a bad mood.

Also, ignore iamzack. It's better that way.

Also, thread locked. This can go nowhere but wrong, and arguably, it already has.

Threads have a single topic. Off-topic discussions will be split.

What happens in GenDisc is not guaranteed to be sane or reasonable. Your thread there was locked because it had become a dogpile. HLP moderation is much looser than you'd find on most Internet communities, but it is present.

the 'moderators' here are still splitting up my threads for no reason
Well, as Batsy already explained, around here we prefer a "one topic per thread" behaviour. You'll notice from at least two of your threads that they began with a support request, then suddenly turned into a series of complaints about the moderators here. It is my one purpose, one skill, one desire: to split completely unrelated discussions from threads into their own new threads. Helps keep things in order. And me sane.

... I mean no too insane.

On the first instance I forgot your original thread locked, but I've since unlocked it. If you have something relevant to say in that topic, you are free to go to the thread and post away.

Thank you and have a nice Friday.
