Just a heads up, that attempting use of the top right search box produces a consistent error.
An Error Has Occurred! You are not allowed to search for posts in this forum.
Probably a mismatch with something considering you had Google in the system before.
Which honestly, the Google search never worked... so I'm not sad to see it go.
-
I can confirm there is a problem
-
Yeah, it's disabled on purpose. I was supposed to re-generate search index but forgot. :p

Given the timing of all this I think little stuff like the search function not working is understandable
-
spell check seems to be disabled as well.
-
Opera has a pretty good, in-built spell checker. That's what I use.

It didn't? It worked fine for me. You just had to remember it couldn't search any private forums.
-
Really Kara.. it was so bad that I released a set of HLP and GW plugins for FireFox that used the
board search. I've had a number of people agree with me or mention it.
-
Honestly the old search worked okay if the topic that you were looking for was on the first 6 or so pages, after that it was sort of hit and miss (this is mostly based on my looking for stuff that is on the public SCP board).
The other problem with the google search was that it would normally return the wap2 versions of the the pages (which is solveable but can be annoying), sometimes all three versions of the page would be linked from the search.
-
Search index finally finished re-generating, so search is once again enabled. Also tweaked search weights to something I believe better fits HLP forums.
Default weights
Relative search weight for number of matching messages within a topic: 30%
Relative search weight for age of last matching message: 25%
Relative search weight for topic length: 20%
Relative search weight for a matching subject: 15%
Relative search weight for a first message match: 10%
Relative search weight for a sticky topic: 0%
New weights
Relative search weight for number of matching messages within a topic: 10%
Relative search weight for age of last matching message: 15%
Relative search weight for topic length: 0%
Relative search weight for a matching subject: 25%
Relative search weight for a first message match: 25%
Relative search weight for a sticky topic: 25%
