I like seeing that complete set of medals all filled in when I finish the game... but I've beaten Freespace so many times now and doing the training missions just for the wings is pretty annoying. Is it possible to get it without doing the training missions? Thanks in advance.
-
Noooo Joo must EARN them
-
There are specific training missions that give you wings. You don't have to play through all of them. I think.
-
The third of the very first training gives you wings IIRC. Or drink a red bull.

Personally, I never bothered to do the Wings medal (training 3) more than twice on a pilot. You get the pretty olive branches for your x2 medal, but beyond that, it's only a number to keep track of how many times you were able to pass training. Seeing as that's a non-achievement, I didn't really care enough to waste time on training. Then again, it's been a long time since I've played through retail from the start, so I'm not sure if you actually need Wings in order to progress to the first mission.

You don't.
-
Or, make a campaign with a single mission, that doesn't require you to do anything, that grants you the Wings medal. You could also put in a SF Basilisk or something that awards 1000000000 points so you get Admiral. :P

I do believe he's looking for a sense of achievement.
I realize you are going for sarcasm... I think
PS small font sizes are available again. o_o

You get your wings by doing the first training missions. It's wierd how gtva lets you fly anyway without them. No wonder our wingmates suck.

not always. sometimes they refuse to leave formation no matter what order i assign (except depart). and by "formation" i mean "attempting to assrape my fighter"
-
They haven't even been through training, they're scared!
-
You could always edit the first real mission and have an event that grants you the wings instead of doing the training missions. But by the time you extract the mission from the VP, edit it, place it in a subfolder, and boot up Freespace, you could've done the training mission with 4x time compression anyway. So...your choice :)

that would greatly explain why the AI cant dodge a stationary Orion

This thread is halarious. And it explains a lot.

Command: Alpha 1, fly into the lucifer's fighter bay.
I see what command was going for. Also necro'd a little.

Command: Alpha 1, fly into the lucifer's fighter bay invisible wall in front of the fighterbay.
Fixed. :nervous:

You've been spotted GTFO
-
Command isn't too bad. In the last mission of fs2, they all are "supernova...GTFOOOOOO!!!".

Godspeed, pilot.
-
Just surprised command never tells you to fly into it.
-
"we need some more information. try to fly into the supernova."
-
"See if you can get into the supernova's docking bay!"
