Title: Question to the developers:
Post by: Mars on December 23, 2010, 09:12:27 pm
I'm doing a Blue Planet ship database on the wiki.

In the Artemis Station cut scene, are the ships actual or nameplate names correct?

Is it the GTC Novikov or GTC Elissa?
The GTCv Pilum or the GTCv Hydra?
The GTCv Enyalius or GTCv Snipes?
GTC Courageous or GTC Utica?

I wouldn't ask except that from the Dev comments on the game, I get the impression you really are running a very tight ship (so to speak) and probably have every ship in every mission planned out to some extent.

The orbat..... Is here somewhere.
Actually *ponder ponder ponder* I only recall the UEF details..

The Pilum and Hydra are different ships, but which one actually appears in Artemis Station is another question...

:wtf: The nameplates were certainly meant to match the names. If they don't, we should be able to resolve the inconsistency by going through the SVN log. For now I'm going to say, go with the nameplates - those look in line with the forces that should be present.

Well originally there were much fewer ships in Artemis Station.

This is a lot to ask. . . but do you have a listing of what ships are in what battle group at all? Or should I just leave this up to assumptions and not record any of it.

For instance, presumably the GTC Essex, GTCv Juarez, GTC Ajax, and GTD Meridian are all part of the 13th Battle Group, but it isn't ever explicitly stated.

More complicated is the Serker group (and the GTCv Medea), who appear in both the 15th and GTD Hood's (presumably 13th or 16th) battlegroups. (Granted, as reenforcements, but it's confusing.)

Before you continue, it's spelled Serkr. No E between the K and R.

lol, I actually knew that, but I always want to put an "e" in there, and tend to forget if I don't double check.

I think that can be pretty safely assumed. Same with the ships from Collateral Damage. I forget their names. GTC Cho, GTCv Redoubtable. Something like that.

Serkr group almost certainly isn't part of the Hood's battlegroup (they're described as Steele's "War Dogs"), nor is the Medea (probably part of the 15th).

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Serkr team isn't part of any battlegroup, but rather some kind of small, independent elite unit directly under Steels command.

They indeed answer directly to Admiral Steele, so they're either a part of Atreus battlegroup (Atreus is the Steele's flagship) or an indipendant unit.
FREDers will know better than me, I'm just a humble normal map/glowpoint artist.  :)

See, this is presumable, but there's not direct evidence to support it, other than their presence at the beginning, and presence =/= being a part of the battle group.

Thank you, hopefully one of them will notice this topic XD

Serkr remind me of the random elite squadrons that pop up throughout the ace combat games.

I look forward to seeing them toast Earth in part two ........ Hopefully :nervous:

Coincidentally, I was watching omgwtflol66's playthrough of ACZ and listening to AC4 music a few minutes ago.

Serkr Team are too big for them to remind me of ace squadrons from AC. The regular fighters do, though, especially the more heavily armed ones, what with their squadron being their Alt name and all.

There was indeed a Tev OrBat with battle group assignments, but it was lost at the hands of some ****ing idiot named Battuta.

lol, if I get the wiki list entirely complete (sans the battle groups) is there a chance it will jog your memory? XD

Serkr is with Steele, as are the Agincourt and associated ships. Distribute other vessels as seems sane based on their appearances. (The Medea was not part of the Hood battle group.)

Rodger that. . .  do you remember what the Hood's battle group was?

Oh, if you've actually lost the OrBat, you might check out the list it MAY be helpful, can't guarantee that though
