Hello Community,

I was wondering if it is possible to FRED a cinematic and then load it with a script as a mainhall effect?

Yes, it's been done several times, and it tends to suck because you have to load the mission every single time you exit options menu/techroom/whatever.

But it's not hard to do at all. BP did it, ED did it, they just all ended up cutting it.

I did something like this for Shadow Genesis mainhall, but I removed it. With it, main menu has a f**king long loading time and lag even after loading.

Perhaps it's possible to have the mission run in the background when you're in the techroom, options, etc.

Nope.



(TAP did it as well, but we're not using the mission part, we're just using the model load and rotate part of it.

But yeah, it's not really worth the time wasted by loading the mission.

Trick is using a very empty mission, and keeping a lot of roids
out of the view of the camera at one time.

I like that. It feels so different.
I know TBP is final now, but they could save a bit.of space using mission instead of the.quite awesome .ani file :) i'm bloody glad wih omitted it though. Laggy menu would make me cryn
