Let us discuss how excellent this latest Coen Brothers film was. Let us use no contractions, in honor of the diction of the film.
That was a cracking good movie. I could not rightly believe that the main character had never acted in a movie before, and that she was actually fourteen. Impressive.

I shall put it on my watchlist.

Are those instant grits?

I prefer g.r.i.t.s. myself.

If they are instant grits those grits certainly cannot be true grits.

Whoa wait. The old True Grit was great. So you mean to tell me that this remake is good too? And that it's by the same Cohen brothers that made No Country for Old Men? Hooooolyyyyyy ****.
/me must watch.
-
it's mos def better than the old one
and it's not really a remake, it's more like a straighter adaptation of the book
-
I liked it, but some teenager in the row behind me was probably the one who gave me the flu.
Please don't fire!

I do not believe I slept.

I do want to see this, but I did not much care for "No Country For Old Men." Hopefully, this is something I will enjoy more.

I thought the movie was pretty damn good. If you hate Westerns, well, not so much (it is pretty much a classic Western). I have heard that this adaptation was closer to the book than the John Wayne movie, but having neither seen that one yet (I intend to at some point) nor having read the book, I cannot really comment on that. I did have to strain to understand Jeff Bridges at times, which wasn't so nice, but it did fit his character.

How could you not like No Country For Old Men?

I like my intrigue movies intrigue-y, and my artsy films artsy, and nary the two shall mix =) This is not to say I don't enjoy creativity by filmmakers, just that this particular film left me underwhelmed.
To be honest, I found it was much over-hyped and never really pulled me in. As a film, it was just too abstract in its storytelling and character development for my tastes - it left enormous gaps in an attempt to be artistic, but in the end I just found it detracted from the experience rather than serving as a prompt to get me thinking about its depth.
"There Will Be Blood" left me feeling much the same way. Both were highly praised, yet I didn't think either of them were films I'd have any interest in seeing again. I normally like psychological movies, but neither of those pulled me in.

Well I loved both those movies to almost Children of Men-ish degrees. However I still think you'll like True Grit as it's not much like either of them at all.
-
True Grit--a remake of a Western with John Wayne, directed by the Coen Brothers and starring Jeff Bridges.
Is there ANY part of that sentence I am not supposed to like?
-
It's not really a remake of the old True Grit so much as a more faithful adaptation of the novel with a staggeringly good lead actress.
