Hi all, I have saved my Main 'Freespace 2' folder in c\\games as was suggested but now want to clean it up and organise it so it makes more sense to me and is easier to use. It is a mess with what I suppose are Mods, campaigns, campaign packs, data folders, etc, all in the same FS2 main folder but I can't find anywhere that really explains what is what.
For example I have (e.g.) 'FS2campaignpack'. Is that a mod in itself that I point the launcher to or does it somehow link with (again e.g.) say BluePlanet or FSPort. And how do I use the new media VP's with those.
Is there a good site I can go to that explains it to someone 'like me'? :doubt:

Post a screenshot of your folder.
As a rule, all mods go in their own folder, as do the MediaVPs. Those folders should be right in the core FS2 folder.

Freespace 2
└--data
└----subfolders
└--modname1
└----data
└------subfolders
└--modname2
└----data
└------subfolders
It is recommended that only retail files and FSO exes go in the root FS2 folder

And most mods have a mod.ini file inside their folder. There you can say what other mod-folder it shall use by just typing the name at primary and secondary list (e.g. the 3612_mediavps).
But typically most mod.inis should refer to the right mods anyway.

Beware with name changing (if eventually you wanted to) ! This can be a source of strange errors...

Thanks so far guys. I think as suggested in the first reply if I post an image the extent of my lack of knowledge will become clear. Warning, the attached image may be upsetting to some viewers (if it is readable) :shaking:

Well, it is not readable. At least not to my old eyes.
