I think people should really take a good, hard look at Diablo Swing Orchestra. They're an amazing band with a really, really unique sound that I think will appeal to a lot of the musical tastes on this forum.
I'm posting this here instead of in the "Whatcha Listenin To?" thread because I'm not currently listening to them, I'm simply recommending them as I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of them and they haven't put out a recent album for a bit.

If another mod feels that individual discussion and recommendation of specific bands is not different enough from a thread on what forumites are currently listening to, then please merge this post with the current Whatcha Listenin To? thread.

Interesting stuff, I hear the influence of Yello....

If you're interested and want to support them, I find the best place to shop for them is Amazon;
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_22?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-music&field-keywords=diablo+swing+orchestra&x=0&y=0&sprefix=diablo+swing+orchestra
I buy most of my music there because it lets me download in-browser, without having to run it through any bull**** media manager like iTunes.

At 99p a pop, I might well pick up a few and have a listen :)

I second the support of Amazon. I buy all my music there as well. Let's me download it in browser to an .mp3. Once I'm done buying it from them, we part ways.

Aw, and here I was hoping to hear music from Diablo II performed by a swing band.

I'm a huge fan of their stuff because of the way they blend so many disparate genres into one very cohesive soundtrack. I mean they literally are a "Diablo. Swing. Orchestra." - death/thrash metal with swing beats and orchestral instrument backup? The only thing they don't mention is that they've got an opera singer for a lead.
If you're still on the fence about giving them a try or buying a few songs to support a very small band, I would recommend this band if you're a fan of Nightwish at all. :) I wouldn't put them in the same genre, in fact, I don't really consider DSO to fit into any particular genre very well, but I know that I was a HUGE fan of Nightwish and now I'm a HUGE fan of DSO. :)

They have a really unique sound (compared to everything else I've heard). I like it. :)

Well, as I said earlier, I do hear echoes of stuff like Yello or Osric Tentacles, but still pretty unique stuff, but more in the willingness to move outside the box that in particular musical style.

Ah, well I haven't heard either of them before, so that's probably why. But yeah, that stuff really struck me.
