First off I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I missed something obvious. I read all of the FAQ and how to install first before posting but there is always the possibility I overlooked something, so if I did I apologize.
My problem is whenever I click on Turey's link to get the FSO installer, the webpage always shuts down saying the page is "not responding" One time it even said it stopped it because of the potential for malicious software but I think that was a fluke.
Is there any other link to download it from or maybe a new installer that I missed? I already have everything else and I'm pretty sure its the only thing I'm missing.

Bluh. I would recommend just following the manual install instructions, they're not that bad. Installer's been dumb lately.

Try this link
http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/java/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.jar

really? how has it been dumb?
-
Spewing errors, not installing files properly, generally arsing around.
However that link might work fine.

Ok I used that link and I have all the java files now but whenever I click on them to open, I get an error that says "unable to get proper pixel format for OpenGL W32"

:wtf: The Installer shouldn't do that. FSO, on the other hand... (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180356#msg1180356)

where are you running the jar file from?
-
I knew I would miss something obvious that was in the FAQ.
My video tab is empty though because I havent been able to get latest build on there. I saw the FAQ for when the file wont load but for the love of me I cant find the launcher6.ini file anywhere in my FS2 files (even searched the whole comp)
-
launcher6.ini is generated.
run the jar I posted and follow the instructions, that should fix everything.
-
Ok I see my problem now, I cant open the JAR files. I simply get a message asking me if I want to find it or save it
Thought I had everything downloaded to read everything but I guess I missed something
-
jar files are opened with java. if you are running windows and you don't have/want java you can also use this
http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.zip
but the .jar download is smaller and works for all platforms.

Download in progress!
Thanks for the help man, it is very much appreciated
