Title: Thank you Stealth!
Post by: Mars on January 25, 2011, 01:03:46 pm
I definitely got that video card! You're awesome, and my computer is running BP at a decent framerate now. Thank you so much. Sorry I didn't thank you before, I didn't want to spam, and your PM box is full.

Now are you happy he didn't die in that fiery car crash?

My awesome Stealth-provided video card has been serving me well for several months now (though sadly, the power supply which didn't fit in my case is hibernating on a closet shelf).  All hail His Zombiness!

oh my bad man; my inbox is full?! that's weird - must be related to the server upgrade or something.

Glad it's working out for you :)

Mongoose - that power supply isn't working!?

He didn't say that it didn't work, just that it didn't fit his case. Which is a little odd as the physical dimensions and mounting layout haven't changed much in over two decades.

Wait, didn't he say he had a Dell or something a while back? That would do it, particularly if it's a low profile model...

*finally sees this*

Yeah, the power supply wouldn't physically hit in my case.  (I have one of those seemingly-ubiquitous Dell Optiplexes with the clamshell-opening mechanism.)  It's all of half an inch too long to sit in the power supply mounting, and the power jack and switch on the back don't line up with the hole in my case.  The good news is that the card has worked just fine with the existing power supply, so I haven't had any issues there.  Part of me does want to get a new case for this hardware someday, if I can find one for this type of motherboard, so maybe I'll be able to use it down the line.

yeah you should be able to get a bigger case for a couple of $ - sure would beat having to get a new computer (or new power supply).

used Dell cases are a dime a dozen
