Title: 'fire beam' event?
Post by: Grante on January 25, 2011, 04:54:03 pm
Like.... how do I get it to work for one? ha.

I have it set up the following way.

 - Eliza Escape (event name)
    -op when
       -op has-time-elapsed
                 70
       -op fire-beam
              GTCV Eliza Battle
              turret12
              GTI Repair Ring

And yes turret 12 is a beam. But when it gets to the time for it to do it.... Nothing.

Is the Repair Ring within firing range and within firing arc?

Range don't matter.
(unless you mean the 30km range, though I'm pretty sure it'll fire even beyond that range)

Has to be in the cone of fire.

in my own experience, firing a beam on a subsystem is more reliable than the normal fire beam sexp

Yeah, targeting subsystems makes the beam much more accurate (because it fires at the subsystem and not at a random vertex or something)
However, it also makes slash beams into direct-fire beams, so watch out for that.
