Hey does anyone know of any good Freespace aIM icons?

I don't really know how to instal them, but i can try n find out.

All i know is that they hafta be small (50 by 50 bit or something of the sort)

i know its aol, but everyone that i wana talk to is on it so eh, whata gonna do

Buddy icons are just images. They can be in gif, jpg, ico, bmp, and xbm format. The only real limit on them is they have to be 7168 bytes or less. (That's 7k or less.) It will be resized to about 48x48 I think, so some images won't look right if their height and width aren't equal.

Edit: And note, these images are for AIM and maybe similar things, not for AOL itself. AOL users can't change their buddy icons to custom ones unless they're using AIM.

There's the FS2 autorun icon on CD 2. :)

Edit: You'd need to copy it to the harddrive to really use it though. :)

You can use your AOL SN's with AIM though. (And can even be logged on with the same SN with both AIM and AOL, though I don't know why you'd want to do that.)

Cool man. Um i dunno if u want some time just see what looks good...... maybe the big C, or erinyes or something shivan (hetshepsut might look kool too) you don't have to if u don't want, and if u do, no rush

It would actually be cooler to have a vasudan or shivan face as an icon instead of a ship.  It's a pity that we can't use the :headz:  icon.

Actually, we can... AOL users with version 4.0 or better doesn't use aim, AOL comes with its own i.m., but its not AIM...

In this case, custom means one you made yourself or have as a .ico file. The available icons in AOL 4.0+ are hardcoded. (Otherwise I'd have changed mine a long long time ago.)

I will probably make some at some point.  I already made a whole series of rotating independence war ship icons, like this (http://www.geocities.com/radioactiveyeti/rotatingtaxi3.txt), and I'll probably make some from freespace also :)

note that I didn't actually draw them or anything, I took screenshots and put them into an animated gif
