Title: Windows 7 and Joystick support
Post by: dig314 on January 25, 2011, 07:54:57 pm

I use  an AVB Topshot Joystick  http://www.avbusa.com/gcfbj1.htm (http://www.avbusa.com/gcfbj1.htm) that does not have a windows 7 driver ( I am running Win 7 Pro 32bit ).
I have installed the XP drivers, but windows 7 does not completely recognize the device.

The FreeSpace Launcher lists that device as "Microsoft PC-Joystick Driver". The joystick does work in FS2 including Force Feedback!
I have not found any other game in Windows 7 to recognize input from that joystick at all.

HOW does the Launcher detect my joystick when other games do not see it ?

no idea, but do check all the options under devices & printers, right click on the joystick, game controller settings.

Actually, it's not that it's detecting it, it's that it sorta doesn't really care.

All joysticks are "Microsoft PC-Joystick Driver" including my XBox-360 Gamepad, my Garvis Rumble, my Saitek X52 Pro....

It's elementary input controls. The downside to the system is that when you have a changed Regional opiton like running Dvorak layout, because the keyboard is originally QWERTY, it still registers as such to the game.

I'm getting the same situation with my Cyborg EVO, and it behaves properly despite the "Microsoft PC-Joystick Driver" thing.
