Title: Can someone confirm these?
Post by: MachManX on January 26, 2011, 12:44:39 am
So I was playing Silent Threat: Reborn a couple days ago and I ran into two confusing elements.  First issue was in the beginning in some asteroid mission.  There was an untargetable red blip on the radar that I couldn't reach no matter how much I used the afterburner.  After the mission objectives were completed, the blip would go away.  Pressing F4 would reveal that there was a "Music Hack" that arrived and departed.  Is that a glitch?   Second issue was in final mission where the player destroys the Hades.  In the faaaar distance, there was an untargetable red blip on the radar.  I went there (after destroying the Hades and everyone left) and found the GTD Legion with a gaping hole in the hull.  Is that ship supposed to be there?

Now I'm playing Transcend 2.0 .  On the 3rd mission where they show you the planet "End", there is no planet.  Is this an issue with the mission or is it supposed to be nothing?

The first one would be exactly what it sounds like - an enemy (who ought to be stealth) warping in to trigger the danger music. That was how you had to do it pre-SCP, and ST:R is, IIRC, meant to be retail compatible.

Yes - it's a reference to the events of the FS2 intro. Clever easter egg.

Cool.  Thanks for that :D  Yeah, I even flew through the gaping hole of the Legion (so disrespectful to the corpse  :snipe:)

Now all I need is an answer to the mission in Transcend 2.0 (in first post)

Update: I figured out the problem.  In the mods.ini file within the Transcend folder, "secondarylist" was spelled "secondrylist" without the 'a'.  And everyone knows how damn strict those computers are...not a shred of forgiveness  ;)  Also, since I am using the 3.6.12 mediavps, they changed the folder name to "mediavps_3612" compared to the original "mediavps".  Instead of going around and correcting every single mod, I just created a duplicate folder with the "mediavps" name on it.  Solved

Man, I knew that the SCP made some amazing quality improvements to the game, but MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE!  You don't really pay attention until you go back to the old graphics and then replay the same mission with the new one.  I mean DAAAAAAAMN!  THANK YOU SCP!

Akshully, originally that line in mod.inis had to say "secondrylist" because... well, because someone made the Launcher that way. It was fixed at one point (was it 5.4 maybe) so that the Launcher could read both "secondrylist" and "secondarylist" entries. So both work. But "secondarylist" is newer, more correctly spelled and therefore better.

I see.  So we've made the launcher "Politically Correct".  :P

Yeah, otherwise everything is working as it should (phew).

Well, I did have this issue back when I was playing the Freespace Port where the hud would suddenly disappear while the game continued playing.  This would only last for a second or two.  Sometimes the hud would rapidly blink as if attempting to disappear, while sometimes it would actually disappear.  But it happened rarely and it seems like a minor issue.  Haven't experienced it in Transcend yet.  Anyone had this?

That's not quite what politically correct means...

Yup.  Sadly, we had to make it a fuzzy blip because stealth ships don't trigger the danger music. :p

The "DANGER" music.  Sounds exciting! :D
