Title: Manual registry deletion
Post by: TopAce on February 01, 2011, 03:11:39 am
I downloaded the free version of Advanced Registry Optimizer (ARO), and it removed 100 redundant registries (that's as far as the free licence goes). However, it also give me a long list of problematic registry entries.

My question: Do you suggest that I manually delete these registries in regedit or is "fixing registries" about something else/something more?

delete this thing you got and get CCleaner and let its registry cleanup function do its thing.

Accept no substitute.

Don't install a bunch of garbage in the first place and you will never need such a program.

You need to be careful about registry cleaners as well, I've had situations where they've done more damage than good, so I tend to avoid them now.

I've run CCleaner and all programs that I frequently use work properly.

Thanks for the advice, pecenipicek.

Is there any pressing need to clean up old registry entries in the first place?

Not really, but I've had this comp since last March, so it was high time to do some registry cleanup as well. I occasionally look for programs that I don't use and delete them to save HD space.
