Title: Better mouse support P.2

Like it has been said already. People prefer different control methods. If FSO were to change how native mouse support works, that'd cause a lot of complaining among veteran players who use mouse for aiming, keyboard for turning. If you can't or don't want to use that method, then you are free to select from several mouse scripts to get different mouse control. Or get a joystick. If you're not happy with that either, the door's that way.

You certainly use the word "retarded" a lot, but you have to realize that your own behavior in this topic is retarded. Being frustrated about something is no excuse. Topic locked.

First, no, my behavior is not retarded, I know that, you have to say it because I attacked your precious game and its support in my previous thread; denial, always the first and most pathetic human reaction, you should admit I'm right, not because I say so but because I am, but you don't have what it takes to tell/admit the truth, grow up.

Second, if you improve the mouse support to make it function as a joystick you don't need the keep pad anymore, you can do everything with the mouse, then you could use your other hand to use other ship controls. I'm sure you waste time when you have to leave the keypad/mouse to, for example, decelerate ('Z') to make closer turn, and you're inefficient, the target can get away. If the mouse works as a joystick you're 100% effective controlling your ship,  and because the importance of this feature is why it should be implemented as a permanent feature in FSO. The new complain would be: the game is too easy now, the NPC ships fly like retards, this mouse behavior is too good. Get it now? is not just a different type of control, is best, like a joystick, but the joysticks brake after a while, mouse are optical now and they won't for several months.

I had to do the explaining so simple in my previous paragraph so you realize what I'm writing, since all your care is to write that what you know is OK, what the current game features is OK, don't need improvement and if I don't like it I can take a hike. Well, certainly I will if I don't find a way to control the mouse as a joystick in the scripts I can find, without your help of course, since you put no links as the other mod did. How come this is a "community developed" game? and when I write what I feel is wrong with the game and I suggest an idea as an ideal solution I only get flamed and locked? With this kind of behavior you deserve the same faith as FS2 had on release. And don't tell later that nobody warned you about it.

All I wanna do is help, but as always the worst enemy are mods here at the seems, you can't say that you don't like something about the game or you get flamed and locked, if you are not brave enough to come and have a reasonable discussion about something let other mods/people do it, don't be a coward and come to flame and lock the thread, if you want to have a discussion with me, PM me or e-mail me ([email protected]).

If you have something to say, please take the time to say it politely.

You only need one hand to use a keypad to fly the ship, just like you only need one hand for a mouse. No difference. Elite multiplayer pilots use keypad only because it has so many advantages.

If you want better mouse support, I'll write a post for you that would have gotten you polite, helpful responses:

Hi, I'm technopredator. I don't really like the way the mouse handles in this game. Is there any way to make it act more like a joystick? If not, could you work on implementing that feature?

Maybe if you can manage to make a post like that we can make some progress. Another post like this, however, and you'll probably be banned.

From your language I can tell you are either very young or not a native English speaker. Do you need help getting your points across?

Sorry. We sometimes forget that there are right opinions and wrong opinions, and that you apparently uphold the right ones.

Yes, I like Freelancer-type mouse control too. But FS doesn't have it. Yes, it could be implemented, but I'm sure most people would rather see it as an option, not a replacement. If you like it so much, the FSO source code is available, you know. Just grab it and code in the support for joystick-ish mouse control. If you really don't like the scripts and such.

Have a nice day.

Yeah.. dude, I've no problem with seeing this feature implemented. Personally, I like how the mouse works right now.. but I know some people don't.

The problem here is your tone. You are harsh, threatening and rude. You are insulting to the admins as well, most of which have made significant contributions to FSO. Just tone it down a bit. Treat us politely and we'll be far more willing to work with you.

But to be honest, I don't expect these few posts asking you to simply be a bit more polite to make any difference. You seem to have made up your mind...

OP managed to make an actually reasonable post on the topic, locking this one.
