Has anyone ever gotten it? It seems ridiculously hard.
-
That's because it's impossible! Well caught.
Changed it to 'save the Vilnius' in SVN.
-
Thank God! I was wondering if I'd lost my edge or something.
May I suggest disabling and destroying the Juarez as bonus objective as well? Saving the Vilnius seems to end up accomplishing that anyway.
-
I replayed that mission like 10 times, on the last run I kept the Vilnus alive most of the run, but then lost it to frikking lazor turrets on the Juarez.... dammit to hell you stupid Juarez
-
The easiest way to do it is to disable all of the main beam turrets on the Juarez first. As long as you're there, disabling a few of the AAA turrets isn't a problem. Then move on to the Hecate. If any Kulas try to TAG you, cap them and move on.
-
After that don't forget to take out the blob turrets that might face the vilnius. I once manged to take out all the beams onto to lose the last few % of the cruisers hull to flak and blobs, while I was hunting down the fighters.
-
Someone actually saved the Vilnus?
-
Yes, though I needed several tries (on lowest difficulty) just to find out they tell you, there was nothing you could do to safe her, even though she survived ;)
That's one thing I hope for in the Directors Cut, a changed debriefing if you managed to save the Vilnius.
-
I managed it on medium, second try; not because I'm good, but because I avoided dogfights like the plague.
-
Yes, I played again and i managed to get the Vilnius intact. I just destroyed the two central beams and the rear beam on the Meridian, and one of the rear beams on the Juarez.
-
It'd also be really cool to see some of the post-mission dialogue change, like "woah I saw you out there rook" ... not sure if that's feasible though.
-
That'd be kinda awesome, see Simms take notice.
-
Just out of curiosity does the Vilnius have any waypoints or orders for the rest of the mission? The one time I managed to save her she ended up ramming the Meridian at full speed, taking out half my wing. Got a laugh out of it though.
-
I think not, it always on 'no orders' for most of the mission.
