Hey Fellas,
I just posted the update to FreeSpaceMods website the new GVF Shu Mk II.
The model was created by PeterV based on the original Shu to add new engine exhaust, new secondary gun and missile points. Wings and main fuselage have also been changed and most of all, it now has a Vasudan cockpit to round off the update. Below is a Desktop I made based on the latest vediavps. However, I could not get it to work in game (yet) and I believe that's due to me, user error! :D It DOES work on the 3.6.9 mediavps. Still does not show it released at FSM yet, so hang on! :)

Thanks goes to PeterV for taking up this update!

Also, is this a Mk 2, or just an HTL (high poly)?

I don't think it's a High Poly version. But it's an updated one as I mentioned above. My plans are to design a Mk V that would be considered High Poly version with better gun detail, Reactor, missile and body changes. But for now, this is a good improvement over the initial version :)

There's a problem with primary bank No. 2... its a 3-firepoint bank, but its lower point would actually graze the underside of the forward fuselage.
-
I'm going to have to ask you to reupload it to FSM.... something bad happed:(

Ok I'll resend when I get home. I'm on my lunch break. Stay tuned everyone!

OK,
Just uploaded a new file version 1.1. at FeeeSpaceMods. Do not use file version 1.0 as it's for some reason stated not working right.
I do hope that works better and wait for the Admin to post here when it's posted.
As for the lower gun number 2 issue, it actually clears the bottom, but yeah it's very close :) Good catch on that as I hope to give it more clearance on the Mk V. Thanks!

I was hoping that it could retain a two-firepoint bank, relatively close to the center-line, so that you can get point precision with at least one bank. Using all banks together means you can more easily hit a fast-moving target. I have plans for this fighter (and the original) and for this one I would simply use the innermost secondary firepoints as my twin primary bank.
Now, when I say "plans", I mean that if I ever get back around to my very OLD campaign, then I would be using this or the original.

/me quietly applauds the re-make.
Iron out the technical details, and I'll just have to grab it!

ok, I'm a bit confused by your comment, currently it has 6 guns in 2 banks. Outer ones are grouped together and inner ones grouped together. Missiles are grouped in 2 banks, outer tubes together and inner tubes together. The ones I did have always been this way. So are you saying the very original Shu done by Wraithhost had the guns in the middle where the current Missile tubs are? Humm, possibly for the Mk V as it will have some blisters on the side for 2 missile tubes each blister. Once that's done, then I can move the inner guns to the top center line.
I hope this is what your talking about?

Ah! After checking those copies of the ship that I had, it seems that I was incorrect. The original DID have the same weapons layout as you've chosen, I just didn't like it and changed it to suit my needs, by making primary bank 2 use the innermost upper firepoints, then moved secondary banks to the power pylon and into the "shoulders". Due to the tri-wing config, I called it Anibus MK.II.
-
When I first saw the Shu I thought it looked rather messy. Now, with this upgrade it is awesome. Definitely looks and feels Vasudan. Kinda like an upgrade to the Anubis except flipped upside down.
-
An upside down Anubis with some serious thrusters.
I might even try to sneak it in TotT somewhere, now that it's hacked into awesomness...

For the record, the original beauty is modelled by Woomeister and textured by Sesquipedalian. :pimp:
