What if we set up a fund on hard-light to purchase the Freespace IP off of Interplay and give it Volition....
I have no idea of the cost, I couldn't even imagine that (perhaps someone could provide some insight). I don't know how many people aside from people in this forum. But it would be a historic movement, we already know there are people at Volition who are eager to develop it http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,74431.0.html (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,74431.0.html) . Where else have fans put money on the line to get a game developed.
I would put it 40$+ 60$ =100$
40$ for the IP and 60$ for the hypothetical re-purchase of Freespace 2.

This thread happens a lot. If you're really into it, the most practical first step is to write someone at Interplay and ask about the price, I guess.
-
no. just no.
-
Or just start buying interplay stock until we have enough to make it happen.

Interplay stock is $0.07. I bet they could use every dollar they could get.

Please tell me I misunderstood this;
1514.175 U.S. dollars = 940.831987 British pounds
-
1. Spend $1514 on Interplay stock
2. Own entire company
3. ????
4. PROFIT!
-
I didn't look but that is just wrong. I have 29,500 shares and that's no where near even .1% .01% maybe. Would take at least 10 million to buy all the stock.
Man I'll be set when it hit's $100 a share.
-
Yeah, the 23K shares it has in "volume" is just an indicator of market liquidity. It's not the total number of shares available (that number is closer to 122 million).
-
Well I got an answer, its a bit unreasonable I think since the whole company of interplay market share cap are 6.9 million dollars. They want at least 8 digits so over 10 million, at which Eric Caen (President of Interplay) say is a fair price point. Don't believe me the president of Interplay just Emailed me back. have a look see !!!

ME!
... no, really not.
But I'm slowly earning it, in a couple of lives maybe.
-
Like I said it would be easier to buy the company.

Hey, at this point, Interplay essentially is its IP. I'd hold on with a vice grip too. :p
Also, imma go ahead and lock this, since the other thread seems to be covering the exact same topic now. If someone wants me to attempt to merge them, just ask.
