Title: Rotating a turret model in PCS2?
Post by: Maksio58 on February 18, 2011, 02:19:11 pm
Is it possible to rotate a subobject in PCS2? Im trying to add a turret to the GVC Mentu by copying an existing one and moving it. ive done it with the Hades before but the mentu doesnt have a turret facing the right way. Figured out how to move it around but i just cant for the life of me get it to face the right way. :banghead:

Maybe you forgot that you can set the initial rotation in the ships table?

I think you misunderstood. I want to place a copy of an existing turret somewhere elso on the hull but they are all facing the wrong way. I cant just slap the model on backwards. Its not a multipart turrat, its one of those flat unanimated ones on the hull.

Top right hand corner, beside "Load".
Has to be one of the newer versions.

Oh, right. I forgot there even are single-part turrets... and I guess you'd want the base of even a multi-part one to face the right way.

Transform tool doesn't work well. Only one rotation axis works. The best way to do any changes in ship turrets is exporting it to some raw format and change turrets in some program to 3D Models [like Blender] but I don't know how to do it.

Nonsense the transform tool works fine for scaling, moving, and rotating by degrees about an axis.
That's all you need to reposition turrets.

Given, I would export it and work on it in 3dstudio Max, but that's 'cause I can (and because I learned to do that before the transform tool even existed).

Nice guys.
Be sure to tell the fellow to get the latest pcs2 version when it's pretty much impossible to find without knowing where to look (Spicious sig seems to be the only place? forum search reveals nothing) and be sure not to link to it either. That'll help him

Thanks very much. The turret is sitting nicely exactly where i want it. Poor Mentu will finaly get an anti cap ship beam. Ill also be able to move that forward BGreen on the Orion (am i the only 1 bothered by the fact it is fireing from tripple a gun turret?)

Nope, I was bothered by it too:
hence I made a version with TrashMans Beam dishes on Bobbaou's HTL orion model!

Or you could just grab TrashMan's.
