Hey, I was checking through the wiki at the list of FreeSpace 2 missions and noticed the demo missions aren't included with FreeSpace 2. Have they ever been extracted for use with the FS2 SCP? I'd love to play through them.
-
Yes they have. I believe Axem has them.

Gunnery control, target Ghastly. Fire the welcome beam.

Sir, we've got Shivans incoming!
What? Impossible... wait, they're firing a welcome beam too!

Thanks for the welcome. This community seems as awesome as some of the other modding communities (Mostly Doom 2 and Starcraft) I've been a part of. :D

FS2demo.rar (http://fubar5.fubar.org/fubar/FS2/FS2Demo.rar)
It still has the 3.6.10 mediavp mod.ini.
There is the link to the scp version of the demo mission , I had requested them a time ago

Great! Thanks! I started recording my first playthrough of the canonical FreeSpace campaigns (1, 2, Silent Threat: Reborn (which I consider canonical :P), and Operation Templar) for Youtube, and the demo missions would go well with the rest of the official content.

You are welcome, one more thing , you need the 3.6.10 mvps, but i think that they work with the .12
-
The next Release of the MediaVPs will include the Demo Missions as well.
(Edit: This post now qualifies me and a Second Gig poster (2048), long live the Shell)

Nice to hear ( or read ) that , the next version of the mvps will be the .13? , and is there any aproximate release time
-
.14, all releases are even numbers now.
-
It won't be .13. We're kind of like the SCP, we number based on stable Releases in the even numbers, with the odd numbers being the internal development. This way it's easier to match the MediaVPs to the Release build SCP Executable if they are using any SCP enhancements that are in that Release.
As far as the next version and it's Release are concerned, we have a lot that we are currently working on and with, and it's pretty time consuming, so we want to make sure we've got it all right. So this one will maybe take a little longer than any of the previous ones, but it will assuredly be worth it.
.14, all releases are even numbers now.
While all releases are even numbers now, it may not even be .14. Again, there is a LOT we are working on right now. I don't want people expecting that there will be a delivery of a .14 set if we're not completed with it yet.
Which isn't to say that we can't have -something- to Release for the .14 builds, since we'll have code for the new shaders in a stable Release build, which will be nice. But I'd much rather that the next time folks have to go about checking out a fresh download of the MediaVPs that it's well worth the bandwidth and not just a kludge together of the already existing set with the patch files merged into it.
