Post by: Colonol Dekker on March 02, 2011, 09:49:41 am
I've recently rekindled my Twitter use after making account for the purposes of following JudgeFloro <3....
I'm Col_Dek sooo...... Are there any project pages, diaspora, BP2.5? For that matter, are there any other HLPeople on Twitter? Or a hard-light thingy on it?

FAIL.

You're on HLP. If you want to appear different from the norm you have to say you love Twitter and Facebook. :p

I prefer twitter over facebook. Both are useful for sharing links, but facebook is made of ass.

Why?  I mean, yeah, there's a ****-load of **** on Facebook, but its fundamental purpose as a way to keep in touch with people you simply wouldn't get to talk to on a daily basis otherwise works really well.

Bingo... this is why I use it. I keep in touch with friends I probably wouldn't have been able to as easily. So when we hang out together there is a certain level of catching up but not so giant a stretch that there is a gulf between us. Also it works well as an event planning tool. I can easily organize an event now with a dozen or two dozen people, get the RSVPs, call the location and make reservations, etc. Before Facebook I used e-mail or some of those invite services (far sketchier than Facebook at best in most cases) but they were always more of a pain.  People change e-mail addresses and phone numbers but their Facebook account is pretty rock solid.

Also a great way to share links about events and get the word out when I feel like it. Twitter I can use for similar stuff... I keep a running commentary on tech news. Occasionally I'm more pedantic.

Which is what makes the complaints on this thread about it so funny. :p

I might use Facebook after I move to keep in touch... but I'm afraid I'll never understand Twitter.
