The fsoinstaller.com domain is down.
-
Daw. I just joined the forum today, seeing the revitalization that Freespace so deserves, and I can't find a current FSO Installer ;_;. This makes me baw. Anything I can do to help you guys out? I DID manage to find the previous version of FSO Installer (3.6.10), but it doesn't want to install.

:wtf: Err, it's an online installer. It's a small program that gets a lot of stuff from the Internet. There shouldn't be any different "versions" as such.
Manual installation is always an option, though at the moment it relies on people to upload FSO builds somewhere, because those are also unavailable.
-
Installations are at a halt until someone rehosts the builds. This is bad! We need to fix it!
-
Working on a solution. Might be a day or so to get a temporary solution in place.
-
Command: Support ship is down!
*presses C-5 again*

I try to run it and it tells me "This version of the Freespace Open Installer is outdated, and you cannot continue with an outdated version. Would you like to bring up the download page for the most recent version?" I click "Yes" and it does nothing. lol. I MUST HAVE FREESPACE ;_;

That's a bug caused by the installer not recognizing the difference between a missing version info file and an out-of-date version info file. :) Rest assured, a fix (to that as well as the hosting issue) is in progress.

This makes me happy. Once again, if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I'll playtest it for you, but I think that's all I can do. lol.
I do pride myself on being a good critic, though :P
-
Yeah I hope the installer becomes available soon. I just installed Freespace 1 and 2 so I could show my 2 nephews how awesome the game is.
-
Me too. Any updates, guys?
-
Didn't hear from the account holder today, gonna try again tomorrow.
-
I'm hoping for a good response. It's been a few years since I last used SCP, lost HDD's and installs, and builds. Bah!
-
Maybe a reupload of the necessary files to Mediafire or sg for now? Somebody surely has the files.
Please don't kick me if I said something stupid, I haven't reinstalled FSO since I became a member here.
-
I have the builds, haven't had the time to get them re-uploaded manually anywhere yet.
-
I pick today to get my first FS related itch in years and cant get it /cry
(lol at really old title/158thavatar)
-
I just re-installed windows 7 and now I can't get FSO installer... oh dratt... I hope the site gets back up and going.
-
Everything is manually downloadable isn't it? I've never used the installer.
-
The 3.6.12 executables are on the same server as the installer.
-
So does this make it a full-fledged server issue, or just a problem with the naming records? I do know that filefront will host very large files and has mirroring available if that's a short-term solution.
-
I just wanted to say I need fs2_open and I hope you guys fix this asap. and thx for the fantastic job you guys do.
-
We're all hoping.

MatthTheGeek has uploaded the SSE2 INF build and the Launcher to Mediafire. Links are available in the first post of the 3.6.12 release thread.
Edit: For you lazy bastards: FSO 3.6.12 SSE2 INF (http://www.mediafire.com/?ut8udk186htveo8), the Launcher (5.5g) (http://www.mediafire.com/?wdvzn7hhhzh418m).
-
The funniest thing about this is that even Antipodes and the nightly builds are/were uploaded there. If Matt manages to upload every build he is a god.
-
If you want nightlies just go compile the sources. FSO svn is still up.
-
They're on the same Dreamhost account, and the payment lapsed. Still working on getting it sorted out.

:sigh:
Guess it's time we all started donating again huh?
I shall go find my wallet.
-
Some news about the server?
BTW: Have someone the normal .12 builds? I had to reinstall Freespace 2 and I don't know how to compile the sources for the nightly builds in SVN :D

Good stuff. Now I can get my FS/2 games a going. And make it look pretty on my new monitor.
-
Payment is pending to Dreamhost, these services should resume once it goes through. Unfortunately, might be a few days. We'll be taking steps to reduce effect should something like this happen again in the future.
-
I think setting up mirrors for major stuff as the latest stable builds and latest MVPs on FSMod.net for example would help a lot.
-
Matt, would you please consider putting up the Linux builds?
-
They'll be back in a day or two. I kind of doubt he has them anyway.
-
If you're on linux, just follow this (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Guide_to_FS_Open_on_Linux), steps "Aquiring the Code" to "Compiling", to get the builds. It's quite straight.
-
Thanks for the heads-up, Matt. I'm taking the plunge as we speak.
EDIT: I gave it a try; I'm on this page of the guide at the moment:
http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Fs2_open_on_Linux/Checkout_Script
I'm running the script, and getting this error:
"connect to warpcore.org(205.251.142.178):2401 failed: No route to host"
-
That is seriously outdated. It shouldn't have even been linked from that guide. You need to get it from Subversion, not CVS. You might want to browse over the whole guide once before diving in to get an idea of what's going on.
-
Ohhh... gotcha. Well, if the guide's outdated... then I might be stuck.
-
The pages I can see are fine. I don't know how you even got to that script, I don't see it.
-
You don't need that checkout script. Just grab the code on the svn and compile it.
-
Well, I got up to the "make" stage... ran it with sudo... now, I don't see any binary files anywhere.
-
They would be in the code folder if it was successful. code/fs2_open_r or code/fs2_open_d I believe.
-
I don't see those folders in my code folder. :blah:
-
Files, not folders. And that's only if it was successful. It'll say whether there was an error or not after you run make. If it just ended with 'cleaning blah...' it should have worked, and the binary fs2_open_* should be in the code/ folder.
-
Ohh... nothing like that, just two makefiles.
EDIT: Never mind, I found it XD Now, I'm trying to run it with the launcher... right now, it's only loading the splash screen and then crashing. No error windows, it just closes.
-
Files are back up anyway, if anyone feels like mirroring what's available now please let me know, we should probably try to get something set up in the next month or so.
-
You rock!
