Title: Mass Effect on Steam
Post by: SpardaSon21 on March 03, 2011, 01:06:11 pm
Does it come with SecuROM?  The Steam page doesn't say if it has any other protection, but at the bottom it says Internet Connection and EULA required and to go to EA.com for further details, which seems to me that it does have SecuROM.  Can I get a yes/no on this?

According to Chris Priestly:

No.

There is no form of DRM on the EA games on Steam, other than Steam itself.

Think that's reliable.

Not sure about that statement, since Steam's store page for Crysis says it has SecuROM and the five machine activation limit.

Since Steam doesn't mention SecuROM for ME, I guess I'll grab it.

Crysis was on Steam before the EA deal, it's different.

Okay.  The EULA for ME didn't mention any third-party protection software, so I think I'm good.

Amusingly, I didn't realize that Batman: Arkham Asylum had SecuROM on Steam until after I'd purchased it already. :p Knock on wood, the game runs fine as of right now, so I'm not exactly miffed.

I've never had troubles with it either. And besides, if you don't play AA you are the lowest form of scum as it is awesome.
