Title: Blueplanet 2 question
Post by: vonhertell999 on March 06, 2011, 04:19:06 pm
hello, in the begining of missions of blueplanet 2, theres a part that appears to be a notepad or a diary that shows what laporte has been thinking lately, but it looks funny to me, its got a blue background, and the words are silver and hardly eligeable, also when i move the mouse it leaves an ugly trail behind it, is this normal?

That does not sound normal at all. Could you post a debug log, please?

Are you running at a resolution of 800x600 or higher?

Take a screen, post a debug log.

You can definitely generate debug logs. Just select a debug build (ends in -d or -debug) in the launcher, run it until you see the screen with the problem, quit, search your harddrive for a file called 'fs2_open.log', and paste the contents for us.

just like INF and SSE, debug is just a flag to set when you build the executable. Definitely not OS-dependant.

screen shot with shift-command-4 and make a box with the target-thing. It should save as "picture 1" on your desktop

That's not how it should look, unfortunately I'm using a PC, so I can't help you.

Wow, Jesus Christ, that's all kinds of screwed up.

We really need a debug log. I don't know what the heck's going on, but please search for just fs2_open and see if you find any files at all?

I guess Steve Jobs does not like Freespace. :P

But yes, almost looks like your Mac tries to apply a wrong pallet and somehow thinks the near-black we see a lot in freespace is blue.

i found one called readme OSX. but thats not the log, i have no idea what in the world happened to my log
almost all the other menus are fine, the only one that has a slight issue is the one before briefing, and that doesnt have a scroll bar, otherwise, nothings wrong. exept my media VPs must have been made by the neo terran front because all vasudan and shivan ships crash my game when vps are on.

Gosh, that's seriously screwed up.
I wish I knew how FS works on Macs, so I could help you.

Give me till tomorrow night, I have access to a 2007 era macbook w/GMA 950 for a few days till the guy who's buying it picks it up; but i'm out of town at the moment.

What model Mac are you using? I'll be honest, I bought it used with a dead fan for 30 bucks about a month ago, and fixed it myself thanks to ebay being cheap for used parts. That macbook is the only one i've used at all regularly, and quite frankly I hated OSX so much I partitioned OSX to 50GB and bootcamped Vista Business; so I can't guarantee I'll be able to figure out the issue.

What graphics card are you using as well? Logs should be in your main directory's data folder called fs2_open.log. So in most cases, it would be inside FreeSpace/data for Windows. Also used with a debug build instead of a regular one. Just covering your bases in case you haven't.

It's a Mac. It's somewhere else. Search the harddrive for the file.
