Ok I've textured my Mech now, tell me what you think :)
(I know I still need to practise texturing :p)
(but thanks to some people for useful hints :) )
and then... Cell Shading anyone :D

:jaw: :jaw: :jaw: Nice ;7

Not bad. Judging from its design and size, I would say its a light recon Mech. Mostly rotary cannons and a missile pack.
I agree that the texturing needs a little more improvement but its just fine for now.
And what is this Cell Shading? Where can I get it?
-
Thanks guys
yea it is a light mech
(but don't underestimate it's firepower, you haven't seen the Main Cannon in action :D, maybe someday you will)
Cell Shading is a a rendering method that renders images so that they look like they would have been drawn (makes them a bit cartoon like) by adding outlines etc.
using it depends if rendering/modeling software has a support for it... I guess. Cinema 4D has a built in one as does Max (or so I've heard). I'm not sure about Lw or other progs.

Can you out the link up to Cell Shading for me?
-
Very nice! :yes2::eek2::yes:
Many people make mechs here. :p

err... do you mean a Cell Shading plugin for some 3D prog., information about it or...?
-
Nice work, but it's too reflective...
-
yea propably... but thanks :)
-
Cell shading rocks... that's only halfway there, but it still rocks.:D
-
Drop all the reflectance on the Cell Shading one and it'll look a lot better... ;)
-
Venom's guide to good cell shading renders:
-drop the reflectance, as chtichks said
-drop the bump
-adjust Shading and specular Dropoff to get only 3 levels of shading per map ( if cinema 4D can do that of course)
-make the outlines a bit thicker for still renders ( thiner for animations)
the effect you want to achieve is perfect on the BG mountains :)
-
good hint stixx... venom, but I thought about that one myself too ;)
as for other venom's hints, some of them I would propably have never thought of... gotta try them, afterall I just found out the Cell Shading option recently :D (I knew there was one though)
but that's for future... now I'm working this one :p

(Divx 570k)
The explosion will be bigger, and I'll try to make the Main Cannon fire... also I'll make the camera rotate a little... and propably some other stuff aswell :)

Wow!

Thanks UT... I'm really beginning to enjoy making these :D
and I'm also learning so much
