Title: Blue Planet 2 Problem Update
Post by: Marcov on March 10, 2011, 05:38:13 am
This thread is an update from the previous dead thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=74362.0).

Apparently, no one seemed to reply to my post. Perhaps they seemed to think that the problem may have been solved ("Problem Solved?" tag), but well, it didn't.

My apologies for leaving the thread hanging. As I said, the Advanced vp's were gone, I took them out, yet the same error came up. I'll be posting the log once again, but it probably might be the same as before anyway.

I hypothesize that the game's error is due to the fact that I've only got the 3.6.10 version of Blue Planet 1: Age of Aquarius. Where can I get 3.6.12 version?

Again, thanks for your help. I really need to play this mod.

This belongs more to the BP board I think. As for the AoA DC, you can grab it here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=68213.0).

It seems I already downloaded those files, and ran the game to no avail through 3.6.12 in Blue Planet. :wtf:

Delete abp-core.vp.

Delete your mediavps in /mediavps_3612/ that have 0 at the beginning of the filename.

Yep, do what Darius said, you borked up your install.

>Deleted MVP's with 0's at the beginning
>Deleted abpcore

Nothing happens.

You do use an INF executable, right ?

Your log:

Code: [Select]
...
Found root pack 'C:\Games\Freespace 2\blueplanet\bp-core.vp' with a checksum of 0x5eebfd21
...

Here's what it should say:

Code: [Select]
bp-core.vp              0xe2219ccf

Conclusion: You are using an old version of BP:AoA. You need to update. Use the link Matt posted earlier.

Also,
Code: [Select]
  OpenGL Version    : 1.4.0 - Build 7.14.10.4670
is really not a good idea. As other people can attest, playing WiH on an intelgrated chip is really an exercise in masochism.

>Replaced original Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius .vp's with vp's from from BP: AOA Director's Cut. Though most of the files were the same, a few differed

Result: Success

Just one more question, though:

-The game itself lags heavily, particularly when ships are viewed, even from a distance. Why so?

Do you mean the opening of AoA or WiH?

If you mean WiH, I'm afraid you'll have to either get a better computer, or wait for the optimized models to be released.
While getting rid of adv-visuals (or mv-advanced in case of the mediavp) might help for AoA, I doubt WiH will run smooth with the current models and textures on an integrated chip from what I heard so far. Especially the Karuna is a performance muncher at the moment, though as mentioned before, optimization is already in progress.
For more information on the optimization -> http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=72780.0

You are using an Intel GMA. That chip just isn't very good.

You are using an Intel GMA. That chip is utter ****.
Fixed for you. Even crappiest Radeon or GeForce is better than intelgrated.

This whole problem was caused by not reading the install instructions correctly. Please make sure to follow the installation instructions.

Not that it's going to help if he uses an Intel GMA.
WiH is not going to run smoothly on such weak graphics and Adv. VPs are only making things worse.
Try disabling everything from "graphics" tab in launcher, enable all preformance enhancing options and use a latest nightly build, which has various optimizations implemented.
This may make WiH playable on this chip, but it won't look as good as it does on better systems.
Or simply, get a graphics card.
