So last night, I was playing Starlancer and thinking 'why haven't I upgraded the Kurgen'? So I did!

Thoughts?

I only ever played Starlancer once a while back and didn't finish, so I don't remember what that ship looked like with textures, but your HTL looks good.
-
Starlancer: the sol war might be interested! they aim to make a starlancer TC under freespace...
-
I completely forgot about that mod, I only read about it once and lost interest due to the lack of content.
-
Nice Job ! I liked the starlancer designs (well, most if them :)), some of the carriers where very cool and would also fit inco wingcommander. The fighters were also great. That would defintly be a great TC Mod if someone would start that

Post above mine.

Great work, Hades! I loved the Kurgens in StarLancer.
-
Well according to the team (frequently joinable in moddb) it's not finished at all: they are simply concentrating their efforts on their freelancer MOD before they fall back on the sol war... Also, many of their assets will then be used in sol war...

No updates in a year. :(
-
Last I remember looking at it was some time around two years ago, and there is no change whatsoever in the ModDb article.
-
well of course, but that doesn't mean they won't come back to it, the leader of the MOD did assure me he would not let it go: I could get him to post perhaps at some point...
-
When did he state that, anyway?
-
Last one I can find is 29 August 2010 by someone claiming that it's making progress.
-
It's a recent claim, and therefore encouraging.
-
Thanks for the good feedback so far. :)
(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm56/HLPHades/kurgen2.png?t=1300653073) Update, added turrets.
Funfact: Starlancer was meant to be a trilogy, Starlancer 2 and 3 would bridge the gap between Starlancer and Freelancer, both of which were being worked on at the same time. Sadly, Starlancer 1 didn't sell well enough for a sequel.
-
True! actually I always wondered if that freelancer atmosphere could have been avoided in starlancer sequels but was purpously not chosen (think colony wars...). In the case of the sol war being a branching MOD, perhaps one outcome for the alliance might be a little more...encouraging?

The story wasn't great but battles were exciting. Too bad we had just one StarLancer.
-
That model Looks great, and It's nice to see Starlancer get some love. Thats another one of the great Under-Appreciated titles of the early 2000's.
-
I think the way the ship looks now could fit I-War as a complement ship to the Bastille Destroyer. Looking good.

Sure, the story wasn't all that original, but I thought it was pretty far from bad. The only huge problem I ever had with Starlancer were any missions where you had to escort anything smaller than a carrier, like the life pod mission, for instance, because the game didn't lend itself well to that type of playing.

I think I'm nearly finished here, it, with the turrets, is about 9000 triangles.
-
Great work!
-
Damn, that's nice! Any specific uses in mind thus far, Hades?
-
I was building it mostly for fun, but also so I could use it for practicing UVMapping and texturing, as I've become far too rusty in the former and I need to learn the latter.
-
I honestly have no memory of this ship from Starlancer at all, though it does fit in well with the general aesthetic.
-
Actually you are supposed to suffer casualties in that mission (although saving the general helps)... You can have a favourable debriefing though... Also, take something fast like a mirage (and not the grendel as I did before)...
-
Why wouldn't you take the Mirage? It was the best ship until late game, unless you came to rely on the Coyote/Patriot's blindfire feature.
But yeah, what Starlord said. You wont ever save them all, but if you can save some, then the debrief is less harsh and you get the campaign points for a completed objective.
-
I actually took the grendel because I liked it's extra firepower very much (i longly preferred it over all the others like the predator or naginata), even if it have without the blind fire features. of course, the patriot came later...
-
Man, I hated that mission. Starlancer isn't made for those types of missions, due to mostly the low tech targeting you have. I think protecting Gamma was the hardest part. :(
(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm56/HLPHades/armorplate.png?t=1300765688)
Now, which one of the two armor plate styles do you prefer, on the engines?
-
First one. The Second one makes it look less bolted together, which was part of the appeal of the Kurgen. Damn thing scared the ass off me too, specifically because I was too busy figuring out how it was space worthy to realize it was murdering me, the first time I ran into it.
-
Dude, thats an awesome kurgan, I loved blowing those up in Starlancer, nasty buggers. About 20 screamers would do the job tho.
-
A port of the Starlancer for Freespace open would be really nice to have.
-
There is one slowly being worked on, it's mentioned on the first page.
-
In that asteroid mission, you'll find protecting gamma harder if you destroyed the 2 fighters in the convoy... I think one is supposed to die at this point.
-
Looks nice. If you turn it from bottom to up, it would be a nice post-capella variation of Deimos :). Small strike carrier or something.
-
Jumbo Satis IMO.
-
Second version of the plate. The first one looks utterly extraneous. The second looks like it's on there for a purpose.
