Title: You Tube honoring the M1911?
Post by: StarSlayer on April 01, 2011, 03:14:49 pm
So I've been noticing over the past two days that you tube's logo looks like this:

Now the only 1911 designation I know is of course the Colt M1911, which was officially accepted on March 29, 1911.  In any case happy birthday 1911 your still the sexiest semiautomatic.

>>nvr mnd apparently you tube has some hundred years ago gimmick going on.

if you click the little 1911 button in the corner of a video it makes it like an old film.  was video recording invented in 1911 or something?

I think it's more to do with 1911 being 100 years ago broseph (though i could be wrong)

that doesn't explain what's significant about 1911.  1910 was 100 years ago last year and nothing was special about it.

Wikipedia doesn't show any significant events involving film for that year.  Although there were a large number of directors born.... And Lucy.

Of course, I can't imagine A Young and Evil Corporation er... Google YOUTUBE, that is, doing something like this without some important technical development being involved with the year.

Truly a gun that was way ahead of it's time. This pistol always reminded me of something that came out in the 1980's as opposed to 1911.

So you got an M1911 huh?

Yeah. The feeding ramp is polished to a mirror sheen. It's not going to have any feeding problems. The slide's been replaced with a reinforced version. And it meshes perfectly with the frame. The frame itself has been iron-welded and scraped down multiple times for maximum precision. The front strap part of the frame has been checkered to make it dig into the hand. That prevents any slipping. The sight system's original, too. It's a 3-dot type. It's got an enlarged front sight, giving it superior target sighting capability. The regular hammer's been replaced with a ring hammer. That enhances the cocking control and increases the hammer-down speed. They also reworked the grip safety to accommodate the ring hammer. Looks like they eliminated it altogether. This is a tool for pros. The thumb safety and the slide stop are extended to allow for more precise handling. The base of the trigger guard is whittled down, so you can use a high grip. And the trigger itself is a long type for easy finger access. The trigger pull is about 3.5 pounds. That's about a pound and a half lighter than normal. The magazine well has been widened to make it easier to put in a new magazine. The magazine catch button has been cut down low to make it harder to hit by accident. The mainspring housing has been changed to a flat type to increase grip. And it's even been fitted with stepping so that it doesn't slip from the recoil when firing. On top of that, they added cocking serrations to the front part of the slide. That lets you load and eject cartridges faster in an emergency. Whoever did this is a professional. :pimp:

You ejected the first bullet by hand, didn't you? I see what you were trying to do. But testing a technique you only heard about in the middle of battle wasn't very smart. You were asking to have your gun jam on you. Besides, I don't think you're cut out for an automatic in the first place. You tend to twist your elbow to absorb the recoil. That's more of a revolver technique.

I tried, but after getting a half-hour into the first one, I got intensely frustrated and gave it up for a long while. :p

Debatable. I only played one of them, which wasn't the correct one, and recognized it.

Also, need scissors.
