A new idea that I've had. I'd appreciate your input. :)

I prefer Garfield minus Garfield (http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/).
Much more depressing.

Yep, I know that one as well.

There were also ones where you would not remove Garfield, but simply his thoughts. Some comics would turn extremely funny for various reasons. Often it makes Garfield seem more like a mischievous mind than a failed smartass.
-
Not a bad idea actually Lucika. I thought they managed to be funny and amusing in a reversed kind of a way.

I have a removal example:

Realfield (http://juannavarro.wordpress.com/2007/12/21/realfield-like-lasagna-too/) is one of my favorites.

Is there a site for those?

Well I actually did that one myself. I do not know where I got the idea, it was from random internet surfing, and I wound up on a forum with a ton of these. I didn't go joining the forum just to post my own because it had been locked for a year at the time I saw it.
There may be some sites dedicated to doing this, but I wouldn't know about them.
It's still a pretty popular thing to do to Garfield comics though. One of the funny things was that the poster of the thread made a joke hypothesis saying that Garfield comics are so bad that removing content is the easiest way to make them of acceptable quality.
Alas, my favorite Garfield strip(s) would have to be the series that starts with this:

You have no idea how alone you are, Garfield.
That strip series creeps me out every time. That, and the level of contempt Jim Davis must've held for Garfield at the time he wrote that. *shudder*

He should've kept with a more serious tone, I think this showcases that his writing capability vcan extend over three thought balloons per story. ;)

AKA. . . Garfield could have been good
-
I like Garfield.
-
It's bad enough that they had the animated tv series. Then they made a MOVIE. AND THEN ANOTHER MOVIE. D:

Overexposure is probably the reason why C&H is still good but Garfield... Isn't.

That and the fact that C&H was good and Garfield wasn't
-
Yeah, that too.
