Title: [Help] Hi all - Hud problem
Post by: mith86arg on April 13, 2011, 12:13:37 am
First, hello comunity! My name is José or Joseph in english, and im from Argentina,  24.

Im totally new in this game, and i want to ask just one thing, and maybe someone can help me, i was using a mod or a few files to change my HUD, but i cant got 'em working with the BluePlanet Mod, i read a lot about moding some files and managed to "insert" those files in the "bp_core.vp" with a tool called VPmage or something else, but in game i have no changes at all :S

hud_gauges.tbl
fonts.tbl

Those are the files... the original path to drop them is Freespace2>data>tables, the file on the mod called bp_core.vp has the same path, but i repepeat, does not work at all when i put 'em there.

BTW i got everything up to date (i think) but maybe i forgot something, who knows... someone help me please?

Thnx in advance.

Cya

PS: if my english is not good enough, please forgive me

First, do NOT alter the VPs. If you want to mod a mod, put your new files in that mod's data\ directory (that is, blueplanet\data\tables). Second, to help you, we need an fs2_open.log.

Here... is a wall of text, so, i put it on tiynpaste.

http://tinypaste.com/0bcca

BTW, i use "fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE2.exe" to launch the game with the launcher but that exe does not give me any logs files, si i use another executable, this one "fs2_open_3_6_12d_INF.exe".

Code: [Select]

By wrapping the link with code tags, you made me select it, copy it and paste it into the address bar, instead of simply clicking it. I am sad.

Indeed.

Also, it would help if you could post the hud_gauges.tbl in question.

You could have just attached the tbls to your post, you know. Also, please don't put links in code tags.

EDIT: Okay, I read the tbl. There's a very simple reason why it doesn't work. That reason being that you used a tbl that only nightly builds can process correctly, 3.6.12 isn't able to.

Also, to reiterate, DON'T ALTER VP FILES. You will cause issues.
