Well, I recently installed Fs2, so I decided to install Freespace Open with it too. I used the automatic installer and chose the selection to give me everything. After that I opened up the launcher, I selected Mediavps_3612 in the mod section, but then when I went to graphics there was still no openGL selection or any of the options that goes with it. I checked features and there were no new features either. After that, I tried hitting OK, and reopening it. When I reopened it Mediavps is no longer in the mod selection (Not sure if its supposed to be or not) and none of the features it comes with were there still. This is getting pretty frustrating, no idea what I'm dong wrong, please help!

You need to select a FSO build in the launcher first, the "Browse" button at the top.
-
Should've mentioned I already did that. My bad.

Are you absolutely sure?
If yes, try removing launcher6.ini from your \freespace2\ directory, then open the Launcher, select an FSO build (preferrably something with "3_6_12" and an "r") etc.

I feel like he might be using the wrong launcher - the original FS2 launcher. You should be using the one with an icon that looks kind of like a tiger paw.
-
I'm using the Tigerpaw looking one. And I think I may have discovered a problem. Maybe I'm not selecting the right Icon? I'll post a screen pic with writing trying to explain what i'm talking about.

You claimed you were selecting the tigerpaw looking one, but the one you've circled isn't the tigerpaw looking one, it's FS2.exe. Please use the one named 'launcher' that looks like a tiger paw. :D
-
My god I'm bad at explaining. I meant that was the one I was selecting IN the launchers browse. ;)
-
Use the one that actually says "launcher" in its file name. Please.
And those two files are .exe files. You just have your Windows hiding known file extensions.

That's not what you want to do. Select the one called 3.6.12 INF SSE2 or something like that. Don't select fs2.exe.
-
Alright, I'm still using the one called launcher, like I said before :P And I tried turning off hide file extensions, and the files till have no extensions and for type they're just called file. I cant select them in the launcher because they dont show up. Should I add the .exe extension to them?

Try that.
-
When I select it I get a little popup that says "fatal error" Fail to read flag file. I can now select Opengl, but if I hit run a CMD window appears for half a second before closing and nothing else happens (game doesnt launch etc.)
(This is selecting it in brose on the launcher after adding .exe so it would show up. and isn't the d one

Did you install OpenAL?
-
This is the weirdest thing. Could deleting the launcher6 file have caused that?
-
Yes. I followed this step by step. http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=61606.0
Except for my lack of .exe's apparently has screwed me over.
I havent actually deleted launcher6.ini Should I do that?
-
You can try. It stores command-line flag information and the file path to the FSO exe, but if it doesn't exist, the Launcher will just create a new one. So yeah, try and see what happens.
-
Tried it, except for having to reselect the .exe nothing changed, still same error. This sure is werid, am I the first to experience something like this?
-
First I know of, at least in this exact permutation.
Um this may sound incredibly dumb, but you did extract the archives containing the exes, right?
Try redownloading 3.6.12 Inferno SSE2 from the release thread on the Source Code Project subforum here on HLP.

I have no idea.... I just used the automatic installer of Turey's and followed that guide best I could. I'll try to find what you're talking about and post results
-
Oh yeah. Those "builds" do not have the proper icon. Missed that. -_-
-
Alright, download finished, just extracting now.
Success! when I chose one of the ones from the thing I just downloaded all the right options in features and in graphics showed up! Thanks for the help everyone. Now the real question is, what happened to those files in the auto installer I used?

Those were probably the Linux executables. Which, surprise, do not work on Windows.
-
How could I have ended up with those?
-
The Installer downloads them by default.
