Whenever I try to do weapons selection in the briefing, OR whenever I load a mission that has a Command Briefing, I get the following errors:
for the Command Briefings:
Verify failure: Vbuf0 != NULL
ntdll.dll! KiFastSystemCallRet
kernel32.dll! WaitForSingleObjectEx + 67 bytes
kernel32.dll! WaitForSingleObject + 18 bytes
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
and, for the Weapons Selection:
Could not load in '2_weaponloadout-m'!
kernel32.dll! WaitForSingleObjectEx + 61 bytes
kernel32.dll! WaitForSingleObject + 18 bytes
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
I recently copied FS2 over from my dying external HD, and obviously EVERYTHING else runs fine. If someone could identify which file is corrupted/missing, or what I am doing wrong, that would be fantastic. If it helps this is all in the Blue Planet WiH mod.
thanks!

Easy fix. Please run a debug build (ends in -d or -debug) until you hit this error, locate the file called fs2_open.log (usually in /FreeSpace2/data/), and post the contents inside code tags. This will let us help.
-
umm it's so long I cant paste the log...
-
This what?
-
You didn't post anything.
-
lol my fs2_open.log is so long It wont let me post the contents...
-
Don't paste it here then, use patebin (http://pastebin.com/) and post the link.
-
Or attach it to the post.

Searching root pack 'C:\Games\FreeSpace2\Sirona.vp' ... 8 files
Remove that from your root directory. No mod should ever go in your root directory.
Remove the radar icons VP and disable CockpitMod. Do you still get the problem?
-
Also, please try downloading bp-adv-visuals.vp (http://blueplanet.fsmods.net/bp-adv-visuals.7z) from the AoA release thread. Extract and place the .vp to \blueplanet\ .
-
I did the following:
-deleted Sirona.vp
-deleted the radaricons vp from the blueplanet2 subfolder
-removed cockpitmod and fov modifications from the custom flags section in the launcher
Upon trying to enter the command brief, the following appeared:
Could not load in 2_CommandBrief-mb!
ntdll.dll! KiFastSystemCallRet
kernel32.dll! WaitForSingleObjectEx + 67 bytes
kernel32.dll! WaitForSingleObject + 18 bytes
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF_SSE.exe! <no symbol>
I hit "OK", and the Command Brief showed up as normal, as it should, except I can't click on anything. The 'continue' button, the pause button, nothing works and I have to ctrl-alt-delete and end the process.

that's what is in my root folder, in case something else needs removed...
-
Try what JeffVader suggested.
-
Huh, what's dataBP?
-
An old data folder of a previous version of BP.
Anyways, I downloaded BP_advanced_visuals as Vader suggested, and while I didn't have it there initially, it's appearance has NOT changed the symptoms of my command briefing problem.
-
Also, you are missing the MediaVPs Root file. Please read the Mediavps release thread carefully and follow the instructions.
Or just use the FSO Installer to install it for you.

IT WORKS! YOU (and Battuta & Vader) ARE AMAZING.
Thanks so much guys. It's sad when a mod for an 11 year old game has better support then brand new titles.
-
It's because we're not doing it for money, but because of the fact we like modding FS2. :)
Commercial games don't ussualy get such support, because their devs are frequently more concerned with money than with fans and their reactions.
Of course, there are exceptions (like ArmA II, which got parts of various mods, community suggestions and such integrated into every new installment and many patches), but they're rare and even they don't get as good support as BP. I'm amazed how far this mod has gone, from a one-man project to an enormous mod with a lot of people on the team, huge forum, discussions of incredible depth and being so popular that it's pictures appear in game magazines as pics from FS2. :)

Got a wierd crash when playing AoA, was trying to "replay last mission", it wouldn't go back (had a Perseus with no missiles left in the Red Alert section, wanted to change ship), so I went to the main
hall screen, clicked continue campaign, crashed. Re-entered, selecting the pilot crashes, even when in media vps as mod. Replaced pilot, now it crashes when I select the campaign in the barracks. Replaced the core files, still crashes. So I had to replace the entire blueplanet folder and it worked again. Lucky there's a nice thing by way of SHIFT + > for when you are chasing things that are far away!
btw I still prefer the Ares for intercept missions...

I don't.

(had a Perseus with no missiles left in the Red Alert section, wanted to change ship)
Red Alert system is known to be rather buggy, crashes had been reported with long red alert sequences. I've never heard of it corrupting the pilot file, but I think it could happen.
Unfortunately, BP team can't do much about it (other than stop using red alerts, which can be rather handy in certain situations), it's an SCP bug (an old one, IIRC).
-
I don't know that the pilot file was corrupt - it may have been that the crash occured because this pilot already had blueplanet as the selected campaign, and the new one defaults at the main FS2 campaign. Whatever the case, a new pilot was needed to get back to the start of the Red Alert section.
Perhaps Red Alert can only go back once when you select "replay last mission"?
