For those who dont know she is most famous for her role as Sarah Jane Smith one of companions of Doctor Who and as of 2007 had a children's TV spin off named for her character which included several crossover episodes.

R.I.P. you will be missed by all generations of Doctor Who fans

Only old series episode I watched with her in was The Five Doctors, but I know she was great from her performance in the new one. So yeah, it's sad. :(

I watched a couple old Who episodes with her in them, in particular the Tom Baker serial "Genesis of the Daleks" and "The Sontaran Experiment", both of which included a secondary companion played by Ian Marter (who also passed away). I think I watched a couple episodes with Jon Pertwee (also deceased) and Elisabeth Sladen as well.

Apart from her appearances in the main new series, I saw one episode of SJA, I thought it was okay-ish but not really interesting enough to grab my attention, and it had a couple annoying characters played by annoying kids...

Eh, anyway, that's kind of irrelevant now I guess.

From a general kids point of view (which lest face it is what SJA is aimed at) SJA is excellent but yes to an adult and/or serious sci-fi fan its it suffers from being formulaic and simplistic.  fun to watch with my 11 yr old step-son though.

I was totally shocked when i heard the news yesterday! couldn't believe it. Met her a couple of times and she was one of the nicest persons i have met.
