TV sucks so bad right now.
-
Game of Thrones is on, go watch that
-
I dont do HBO :drevil:
I already finished Californication.
Caught up on House (13 is back).
But Sci Fi seems like its dead :hopping:
Unless you are into horror or nightmarish reality shows which doesn't do anything for me at all.
-
I need to finish the Stealthstar and quit vegging in front of the tube anyhow lol!
-
The Sci-Fi channel is so bad they re-named it "Sy-Fy." Little else needs to be said on this accord.
However, it is pertinent to note that regardless of whatever title the channel has bore, it was always populated with horribad B-grade horror films which should have never been made to begin with. That most of the prior science fiction series involving space (and the other nerdy things most of us here care about) have finished their runs simply means that the word will have to wait for the next insightful group of screenwriters to concieve of something meaningful.
...Which might be a fun topic to start here: The HLP Joint Series Pitch. Whoo hoo.
-
I seem to recall seeing a list of upcoming pilots on IGN and their where a slew of very interesting high concept shows in the pipe, including a police procedural in a world with magic being developed by RDM and including Jamie Bamber in the cast.

That's right B-Grade indeed..... BSG was A-Grade. The old girl "Galactica" brought too much class to their funky little misnamed channel.
I've watched those fools kill EVERY GOOD PROGRAM that has been on the bloody channel. Including Doctor WHO... I'll stay away from
their lineup until all of upper MGT is fired. And gets replaced with someone that can spell.....
SO SAY WE ALL!!!!

So say we all!

Game of Thrones is on, go watch that
Is it any good?
Currently reading the books... again.
-
So what's wrong with Blood and Chrome?
-
Seeing as how it hasn't aired yet, I can't exactly see anything wrong with it.
-
I assume he means Where rather then What The Hell is Blood and Chrome.
-
According to Wikipedia, they only started production in February. Even SyFy can't probably turn a production around that fast.

Yep, a year to build, a second to cancel is their motto :P
-
They need to cancel their poor management for the last 3 years
-

Yes Where the hell was my intent...
-
I see it coming. A BSG program pulling their asses out the fire again. And canceled in the off season before season two.
Thanks in advance SY FI channel. You guys really suck bollocks at SY FI channel. Wanted you guys to know it too. Can't say
That you were now warned about the demise of B&C.
-
They should do sci fi wrestling. That'd totally get 25 seasons. Because your regular sci fi fan enjoys the sight of two semi-naked, muscular, sweaty men laser whipping each other.
-
What they need instead is the Sy Fy Gladiaytor Pyt, which is purposefully mispelled for... reasons which are so ludicrously stupid that their discussion is not warranted.
...Because now, you can combine all the moronic B-movies with sweaty half-naked people. Who seriously doesn't want to see Romulans fight off a pack of chupacabras with their bare hands? That's almost sounds more exciting than Chuck Norris fighting King Leonidas on a plank which spans a bottomless pit...
-
Chuck would totally own Leo... look guys.. I have a brand-spankin-new bat that I've been itchin to use on some Sy-Fy exec skulls..the quality of programming is complete ****E IMO, and really.. who wants to see a bunch of b-grade crap AND half-naked wrestlers?
seriously. Kick the crap outta Josh Wheaton (sp) so he can also see how big a mistake he's made by dropping Firefly...and then beat him again just on principal.
I wish they would pulled thier heads outta thier arses..
*looks at the bat... imagines nails...*
/calms down
-
Joss Whedon didn't drop Firefly. Fox cancelled the show.
-
Josh Wheaton... Do you mean Joss Whedon?
If so you need to lay off the peyote friend. Joss created Firefly, along with a plethora of great television, Fox cancelled Firefly because the ratings just never materialized.
-
Yea, that guy.. great show.. shame the show was dropped.. thanks

I like Joss Whedon's "Castle" but Firefly was a show killed long before it should have been.
I see Baldwin on "Chuck" episodes which is humorous.
But over all, Sci Fi shows seem to be less and less in favor of cheap reality nonsense.
Lets face it, Reality shows, suck. I never got interested because they are scripted unpalatable drama.
I can go to a local bar and find more interest watching their drama.
-
Joss Whedon isn't involved in Castle.
-
My personal favorite Joss whedon show was definitely babylon 5, but fringe is coming to be a pretty good

Look I see what you're trying to do but nobody is that dumb

Has anyway watched the V remake? It get cheesey in places, but it's very well written in others, good acting too. I'd go as far as saying it's a very decent stopgap for your sci-fi fix. Another program I'd recommend would be Outcasts. Not sure if BBC America shows it or not. It's kinda sh*t sometimes, but they did a bold move by killing off their biggest star in the first episode, none other than Jamie Bamber.
Course when tv gets real bad there's always Kenan and Kel on youtube...

Your faith in humanity comes as a somewhat naive but nonetheless welcome breath of fresh air.

My bad, brain fart I meant Nathan Fillion
-
Wasn't there an episode in Castle where Nathan Fillion's character dressed up as a space cowboy complete with brown duster?
-
Yes, it was awesome.

Yes. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q3pdj9p6yI)

There are 2 other references in the series this season. That guy is a good actor and that was a great character.
-
The series itself could be better though...
-
Has anyway watched the V remake?
Got to see the first few episodes, didn't like it. They could have written the aliens to be a lot more ambiguously evil. That would have been better. The series lost me in the exact moment when the queen ***** told the reporter not to ask her uncomfortable questions.... it's as if sci-fi has lost any respect for the intelligence of the viewer and has to feed him what is going on exactly every time in big red letters so the dumbest of people won't lose the story. Either that, or someone makes the opposite stunt of inventing a non-story filled with promises that it is a story, "you just wait and see.... in the next episode". Lost has lost me also in the very few opening episodes when I realised that the writers were just fooling around with the viewer.

No they weren't, almost everything in Lost got answered or paid off in some way. The problem was just that a lot of the big answers at the very end turned out to be ****ty.
It was a great show for, I'd say, 4 out of its 6 seasons (and not simply the first 4).

So thanks for actually agreeing with me while saying you don't. Of course they "answered" all the questions, but that wasn't the point of the series in the first place. The point of it was to put all the viewers asking questions. And for that you don't need writers writing answers, you just need them to invent mind raping nonsensical twists that come out of nowhere and then pretend they have an answer. Then at the end, they patch up a ridiculous answer just because people would freak out too much if they ended the show without providing said answers (which would be the only honest way to end the series).

I found it unbearable from the first episode.

That's not what happened at all. The answers they gave were clearly planned in advance and most of the twists ended up making perfect sense. It's just that the answers and the sense were ****ty.
The final 3 seasons were (with 1 exception) meticulously plotted and assembled, they just didn't go to the right place.
-
Well, then, I have been corrected there.
It feels exactly the opposite of that, though. From the start people freaked out about the show's total "disrespect" (in the sense of not explaining anything to the audience) as something super-cool (which is, I agree, quite cool), but then started to ask a multitude of questions and deep "senses" about it, which to me were immaterial. It seemed to me that it made much more sense that JJ Abrams and these new generations of writers were much, much more interested in putting the audiences in a rollercoaster of doubts, confusion, utterly lost in an anarchic place of meaninglessness, while giving them enough hooks, enough juice, just to keep the audience interested in order to **** them up with more insane mind rapes.
To me "Lost" was about that, a kind of a concept-of-proof series, that perhaps eventually turned itself into a meaningful crap (people and their demand of closure!). JJ Abrams made that kind of thing. Fringe, the undeserved heir of X Files, had also this kind of meaninglessness in some of their story arcs. Star Trek, for another example, was also only about the rollercoaster experience, not about the "meaning" or "sense" of it.
What I wanted to say is that in Lost people thought they were buying into a very interesting onion puzzle, when they were being actually given a rollercoaster. In V, there weren't even peels to the things. It was all blandly exposed. ****ing depressingly boring. The more so when you think what it *could* have been.
-
I agree that V is ****ty and that JJ Abrams really does have that rollercoaster habit. Lost did sort of turn out to be an onion, it's just that the middle was made of poop.

I like V. :(
-
That's okay, different strokes.
-
I liked Lexx lol!
-
Lexx was fun. Though I haven't seen season 4.
-
Okay, all that had to do with B&C how again....? I'm "LOST" guys...... :banghead:
-
JJ Abrams only wrote the pilot of lost and had nothing to do with it after the first season as he want on to pursue other interests (Fringe)

Yes this is not news, Lindelof and Cuse handled the rest of the show (often very well).
-
Oh, look, another "look at me I'm going to tell you I'm drunk and misspell every single word" post. We so never had any of those before..
Funny thing is, if you were really drunk your post would probably be easier to read. This one just screams of trying too hard to look like you're drunk.
-
Yeah, I can type perfectly when I'm drunk, I just come across as more badass.

Won't deny any of that. Apologies.

yeah, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that
-
What about Fallingskies? It premiered tonight
-
It looks like a bad version of space above & beyond.
The effects are well done. But the series sure will be way too expensive to last more than one season.
-
It looks like a bad version of space above & beyond.
Minus the Corps, Hammerheads, Saratoga, ISSCVs, the far future setting and just about everything else in SAAB sans alien invaders :P
-
Nonsense. It's exactly like Stargate SG-1, without the Stargate or SG-1.
-
Anyone with a video of it?
-
Nonsense. It's exactly like Stargate SG-1, without the Stargate or SG-1.
Wait, does that mean that MacGyver is in it?
