Title: I am unable to run FS debug build 3.6.12 INF. I also get a Green screen......
Post by: turbotails23 on April 25, 2011, 06:17:33 pm
I am unable to run FS debug build 3.6.12 INF.  I need to run this to address my real problem: Whenever I play FS with either Media VPS, BP, Sync, DeL, or Transcend I get a green screen when looking at the sun/star.  I can still see everything on the screen (fighters, rocks, Frigates), but everything is given a Green hue.  When I stop looking at the star/sun The green hue goes away and everything is given its normal colors again. When I run the FS debug build the computer locks up right after the movies finish playing. I tried disabling the movie playback and now the game simply locks up right after I launch it and the Media VPS screen goes away.  Attached is my Debug log.

ATI 2600, 2gb of ram, 2.2 GHZ AMD dualcore, Windows Vista 32 bit.  Its a Toshiba P205D-7479 Laptop.

I am not one of the tech guys here but first thing i notice is that you are running a pre 2.1 opengl driver so updating that might help,

Secondly what happens when you run the game without any mods or mediavps also what happens when you move mv_advanced out of you mediavps folder and try running with the mediavps?

What happens without -ati_swap?  IIRC, that flag will cause your issue on cards that don't need it (only very old ATI cards need that flag, and yours is not one).

Removing -output_sexps will improve your boot time.  You probably do not need -mipmap on either.

Updating graphics driver will probably help with other issues.

The actual reason why debug isn't running is because one of your pilot files has a name longer than 28 characters.

And yes, you should update the drivers. Your card can do OpenGL 3, you should let it.

As for the green screen problem: Try setting the colour depth to 32 bits.

Also,

Code: [Select]
Found root pack 'E:\FS\Freespace 2\data\movies\tango2_fs2.vp' with a checksum of 0x86920b82
Found root pack 'E:\FS\Freespace 2\data\movies\tango3_fs2.vp' with a checksum of 0x705e8d71
Found root pack 'E:\FS\Freespace 2\data\movies\tangoB_fs2.vp' with a checksum of 0x0a5f4659
Found root pack 'E:\FS\Freespace 2\data\movies\warble_fs2.vp' with a checksum of 0xd85c305d
you don't need to have these files in \freespace2\data\movies\ . Remove them.
