"let the Jews come, anything is better than Bashar Assad"
 wow

That's definitely on the funnier side of morbid humor.

 Syria must really be going down the ****ter...

Been there for quite a while, but instead of climbing out they've been rolling around in it until now.
-
The Syrians appear to be excellent trolls.
-
I wonder what would happen if Israel and the protesters made a deal...?
-
One would turn on the other as soon as it seemed beneficial.
-
Well I imagine if the deal wasn't realistic and wasn't made in good faith between the people's (not necessarily current governments) of both countries, that would happen.
Otherwise, if they ended up finding out that they work well together, I don't see the problem?
-
Would be ironic.
-
The only reason the two groups hate each other is borders and politics.
-
and religion.
that plays a small role.
-
Syrians are anti-Zionist, not antisemitic. If there is bad blood between Israeli Jews and Syrian Arabs, it's because of the policies of either country. The whole idea of religious conflict in the Middle East has been overblown. Arabs don't hate Israelis because of Muslim-Jewish hatred, but because they're forcing Muslim Arabs out of their homes. Religious conflict is just a symptom of the real problems facing the Middle East.

But Zionism is a religious idea. Since it stands at the center of so much of Israel's conflicts, wouldn't that make it something of a religious conflict?

But Zionism is a religious idea.
Not particularly. It's a political movement that some have tried to justify through religion.

No more religious than Manifest Destiny (i.e. slightly, but it's a peripheral factor).
Religion rarely motivates anything. It's usually an excuse.

From the decision maker's standpoint or the raving zealots that carry it out?
-
Well I haven't had the pleasure of their acquaintance so I can't speak to the zealots.

Hopefully, Bashar Assad will get his revolution, just like Gadaffi did.
He deserves it for all atrocities he commited and I hope NATO will also help Syrian rebels.
