After the lively exchange above and knowing that Blue Planet's story has already been thought out all the way to the end of a third instalment, I decided to create this thread.

Think of a subtitle for BP3 and post it here. If you want an extra challenge, you can adhere to some of the following rules:

Remember, the three rules above are not set in stone. If you want to post a subtitle that does not conform to any of the rules, feel free to do so.

I'll start off with some examples:

I came up with...

Blue Planet 3: Epoch of Contention

Written here below (spoiler boxed) is how I came up with that (there's a reason behind it). I've put it up as a spoiler, because there are so many matches in the research I did between things we saw happen so far in BP and with Hindu believes, that I don't want to accidently have hit the jackpot guessing things right. It's worth a read though:

Spoiler:
The term Epoch of Contention is a rough but open translation of Kali Yuga. The Kali Yuga is a period (Kali is the god of apocalypse, and stands metaphore often for words such as destruction, rivalry, discord, contention) and is the fourth and final Yuga (yuga translates to era/epoch) in hindu believes in a period of four Yugas. It is said people find themselves during the Kali Yuga to be removed the furthest from spirituality, living in a dark age. During this final epoch, it is said Kalki, the tenth and final avatara (an incarnation or representative) of Vishnu the Preserver will arise to end this dark period, by destroying all the Mleccha (barbarians, war mongerers, often described also as those who placed themselves as leaders but eventually do their people harm, or as thieves). Then the Kalki would bring the Brahmana (rituals/ways/lessons on how to excists and run things) to those who remain and can genuinely fulfill that role, becoming the Brahmas (which means those who ascended completely into spirituality, or hold a power and control which is as large as divinity).

Here are my favourites so far:

Odyssey Into Hell - Okay. Not liking titles with hell I would usually reject this, but that it's a quote from Petrarch from the original FS2 changes that.
Lessons from Infinity - A very fitting name, since we learned lessens from both the Vishnans and the Shivans already.
Shattered Balance - Do I really need to explain this after the events of universal truth? Though I'd suggest making it "The Shattered Balance". Feels more natural as a title to me for some reason... maybe the three letter thing.


While I don't have any suggestions as good as the above I do have some ideas:

"Restoring the Balance" - this one is pretty much just Shattered Balance from another view, so can hardly be called an idea.
"Legacies of Old" or "Ancient Legacies"
"Path to Divinity"
The last two titles play at Humanity becoming the replacements for one member of the triumvirate, be it Shivans, Vishnans or Brahmans.

War in Heaven is a fantastic name for BP2. It's got the combination of sounding cool whilst having a deeper meaning. The Feds and Tevs have their war in Sol, their own paradise, while the Shivans and Vishnans have a ruck in some higher dimension so alien to us that we can only use religious terms to describe it. I never really understood Age of Aquarius though. Does it mean a time of change or somesuch? 

Anyway I like Lessons from Infinity and Odyssey into Hell, but they're not perfect. I don't think the first one really fits with the other titles and the second one would be terrible save the fact it's a Petrach quote so it becomes cool. I actually really like Snail's BP3 but thats just a cop out :p

The only thing remarkable about it is its length. It's a tile-textured, low-poly, stretched Sathanas. There's not really anything to it.

It's useless because overpowered. The Raynor and the Solaris are badass enough.

Or just a regular Sathanas with all the goodies that only came with BP2. The armor and ecm and stuff could turn this behemoth into an unstoppable avalanche of beamy death (even more so than it already is).

I'd say that a less ambitious original story is a thousand times more worthy to create than the dejá vu that would be to copycat such a well known scifi mythology. And one which I don't exactly enjoy that much.

We aren't talking about changing the story of BP3, which is already written out. We only talk about the subtitle.

"Falling Towards Apotheosis" would mean someone getting closer to becoming a divine being, wether they want it or not. That would fit the situation of the Humans quite well, since they are manipulated by the Vishnans for sure and most likely by the Shivans too (Ken being the most obvious hint in that direction).
And "Into the Fire" could just mean as much as "There will be a massive battle"... which will probably be the case in BP3.

Neither of those subtitles has anything to do with Babylon 5, beyond being used there as an episode title too.

Close but not quite. The "falling" is the difference.
Were your title just sais that humanity is moving towards divinity, not giving away wether they do so out of their own will or not, "Falling towards Apotheosis" sais that humanity is pulled there by outside force.
For example your title might mean that due to their "enlightenment" Humankind is offered a position among the big ones, but may decline, while the "falling" title feels more like us being dragged into the conflic and used as pawns by them.

Thanks, it probably wouldnt fit with the BP storyline. I was just thinking of random/crazy/good/fun ideas.

And had the thought of. Capella, destroyed by the Shivans, is a major pushing point for the GTVA wanting into Sol again. The Light of Capella is running out..., is time for the GTVA running out? (now.. only if I knew how to FRED well, I could be all set for a mod (or several) right about now....)
