Title: Having trouble getting Silent Threat Reborn to run

Hi there.

I was trying to run Silent Threat Reborn, but when I start it up it says there's about 60 errors in running it, and when I try to play it it doesn't show any graphical improvments.

Any way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, there should be. Post an fs2_open.log (generate using a debug build, find in FreeSpace2/data/).

Hmm.. tried to do that, but I can't really figure out how.
Did you mean I should run the Debug version of FS2? I did, but nothing showed up in the data folder.

Weird - what OS are you on? Search your whole hard drive for fs2_open.log (think it usually ends up in My Documents if you 're on a later version of Windows...)

Most likely that message is because something uses a deprecated flag in one of the tables. Such as the $Decal: flag in the weapons table.

All righty, the issue is that you've got the 3.6.12 MediaVPS (which go in the mediavps_3612 folder), but not the old 3.6.10 MVPs (which go in mediavps). You can download those from the FreeSpace Upgrade Project subforum here on HLP.

Also something looks fishy about that mod string but I'm so terrible with FSPort I can't be sure.

The -mod flag is okay otherwise, except it is indeed not pointing to an existing MediaVPs directory.

Allright then. So, I should DL 3.6.10 MVPs.. Inferno or Regular version?
And after that, simply extract everything into the mediavps folder?

I think you're looking at the wrong forum - you want 3.6.10 MVPs from the FreeSpace Upgrade Project forum, not the 3.6.10 executables (which you should never use) from the Source Code Project forum.

Then yes, extract to mediavps.

I was talking about the in game screen with the warning window up in it. I get that every time I run an older mod with a new EXE because of deprecated flags. Particularly the $Decal: flag in older weapons tbls and tbms.

That is not the cause of these warnings.

As long as you have the current FSPort media VPs, FSPort and Silent threat reborn will work with the 3.6.12 media VPs.  You have to change the Mod.INI to mediavps_3612.

Should look like this:
primarylist = fsport-mediavps;
secondarylist = fsport,mediavps_3612;

Still having some problems..
I saw there isn't a "mediavps" folder, so I simply created one and extracted the 3.6.10+patch there.
The problem still persists, though.

Try Macfie's suggestion, editing the Silent Threat Reborn mod.ini.

Using 3.6.10 VPs with 3.6.12 FSPort causes problems, you'd better edit your mod.ini, especially that ST:R has been reported to work on 3.6.12.
