Title: Continuum3D - A Possible Source for Skybox Material?

I don't know much about skyboxes and backgrounds, but I thought I'd mention this site I just found that sells 360 degree sky textures ("sky domes"). They have some free material too.

Also for sale are some 3D models of a variety of objects, notably a research ship and a B-17F. Very pricey though, and likely not suitable for use in FS without a lot of work.

Edit: They also have an F-15A/C Eagle model.

There are some tutorials about how to use skymaps there too: http://continuum3d.com/grafix/C3DB-Skies/SkyHowTo.html (http://continuum3d.com/grafix/C3DB-Skies/SkyHowTo.html). Not sure if they'd be of any use for FS-modding purposes, and besides we have our own stickied thread for that anyway.

Skydomes only cover half the sky. Useful if you have terrain reaching to horizon, not so much for FS2 skyboxes.

Also, the quality of the free stuff at least is fairly so-so. :nervous:

Hmm, now that you mention it, they do look rather average. The clouds look rather bland.

Might be suitable for use as placeholder skydomes in Free Skies until we find or make better material.

Man, a lot of the models also look pretty bland, too. Thumbs down, bromensch.
