Title: Water wet, FSO Installer being DUMB

If you select an option other than 'The Works' it refuses to work and downloads nothing.

LOOKS LIKE IT'S ALL OR NOTHIN' BOYS

Guys, I seriously have people Google chatting me to beg for help with this issue. 'The installer is broken! It doesn't work! It doesn't download anything!'

And I just have to tell them 'you have to select The Works, download errything or gtfo'.

plz can we fix this

Don't use the installer.

Installer is the only way we attract most of our players, it needs to work.

But Jeff Vader wrote a fantastic tutorial (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=47640.0) for installing FSO  :(

Yeah, but it requires the user to actually do something instead of just clicking "Next" and scratching his/her arse.

Great for experienced users and the devoted, instant turn-off to most.

If experienced software engineers don't want to put up with it there's no chance in hell your average Joe Player wants to.

Hey JeffVader I hear there's a bug in the engine, the set-damage-type SEXP doesn't work reliably on debris. Take care of it plz

If Turey was still the lead developer on the installer, that would be wise.

However, he isn't. Goober is.

For those interested, this (http://staff.hard-light.net/goober5000/temp/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.jar) is the current version of the Installer.  It is, of course, not quite complete.
