Title: HIV Vaccine (sort of) works on Monkey version of disease.

Not perfect yet, but another step in the right direction. At the moment it sits at approx 50% protection rate, which is a better than 0%, but work still needs to be done before it can be introduced to humans, since the current method has severe risks attached to it.

Trouble is that HIV produces variant strains in a single host much faster than SIV.  The big problem with HIV is not that the immune system can't produce memory T's, it's that it can't keep up with the variants being produced.  No doubt a CMV-based vaccine might give the antibody-mediated response a swift quick, but I do wonder if it would actually be able to keep up even then.  I suppose with modern antiretrovirals.... *ponders*
