Title: Forcing directives to APPEAR?
Post by: TopAce on May 14, 2011, 07:39:23 am
I'm FREDding a (standardish) convoy escort mission and I ran into a problem.

You have to escort three Elysiums from Point A to Point B. The first two enemy wings (Leo and Pisces) arrive simultaneously and attack the convoy. All the directives are there. So far so good.

The second wave of enemies (Cancer and Taurus) come in a minute or so after the first wave, but the "Destroy Taurus" directive doesn't appear until much later. This is what the directive window looks like on the second wave's arrival:

Defend Witch Hunter
Defend Defectors [2]
Destroy Leo
Destroy Pisces
Destroy Cancer [3]

I'm assuming that the pending "Destroy Taurus [4]" directive should override one of the already completed ones, right? It never does. You don't see this directive until they are dead or killed your transports.

There's nothing extraordinary about any of the enemy wings or the directive events themselves.

I'll bet the issue is the Destroy Taurus directive. What do you have in there?

Even money you have a is-event-true-delay in there. :p

It's a normal is-destroyed-delay "Taurus" - do-nothing event.

Chained to anything?

Also, are there any remaining ships in Leo or Pisces waiting to jump in?

No, it's not chained to anything. If it were, I'd have noticed it.

Cancer jumps in 55 seconds after Leo. Taurus jumps in 3 seconds after Cancer. All cues use a single has-arrived-delay.

Perhaps we need a means by which we can assign directive priority, rather than simply chronological modified by whatever criteria make it decide to keep some on the list that we feel should be removed or dropped to lower priority.

Use a hud gauges tbm to make your directives gauge longer, see if they're there.

That'll be the emergency solution workaround.

Well even as a testing tool it'll tell you whether the directives are appearing but simply not replacing satisfied dirs, or not appearing at all.

I transposed the second and the third waves, and all directives are present now. I need to spend some more time to balance it, which is what I've been doing yesterday and today. I hope it'll be worth it.

(Likely not)
