Title: Help Me Please: Activating my mods

Hello,

I dont know the first thing about running scp or any of that. Ive followed guides and directions all the way and to much avail, until I started trying to runs mods I have downloaded. When I activate the mod with my launcher as I was told to do, it runs fine until I start a mission. My computer gives me an error notice and when I look through it, the game is trying to fins freespace 2 items and graphics and ships in a mod that doesnt have them, thus it stops running. I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me with this issue, I think it might be my folder placement, but Im not sure.

This should be really easy to fix. Please use the launcher to switch to a debug build (ends in -d or -debug), run it until you hit the errors, then go to FreeSpace2/data/, find the file called fs2_open.log, and post it here.

Probably you're picking the mod but forgetting to go to the campaign room in the game and run a campaign which works with the mod.

I dont know what you mean by switch to a debug build from the launcher =( do you mean select a mod in debug form? because I dont believe I have any of those.

Karajorma, I thought about that too, however, I cant even get to the loading screen with certain ones because it immediately boots me out with an error.

I dont know what you mean by switch to a debug build from the launcher =( do you mean select a mod in debug form? because I dont believe I have any of those.

You know the button in the launcher that lets you select what FreeSpace Open build to use?

Hopefully right now you have something like fs2_open_3.6.12r_INF_SSE2 selected. Find the one that says D instead of R, select it instead, and follow the rest of the instructions.

looks like theres a missing armor.tbl, and a ship entry is trying to use an an armor table entry. this ship being an apollo, id bet that every ship in the mod is set up to use the armor system.

Yeah, Cardinal Spear might be a tricky one to get working today. There are other mods available that will probably work better.

The only mods I care about running at this point are fsport with mediavps and fs2 with mediavps. Is there anyway I can go back to downloading the fs open client again and re download the launcher and just those mods? I want those two to work bug free, the rest of the mods I dont care about.

To play FS2 with Mediavps_3612 just select Mediavps_3612 as your mod.

Everything should work fine from there.

I have just tried running fsport by itself and the media vps for fs2. They work decently, but up until a certain point and then they error out.

I wiped everything and reinstalled the game. Downloaded the 3-6-12 client with the launcher and am now downloading the individual files for the media vp 3-6-12. If I want to download fsport with its media vps, what is my best route?

I have another issue as well. Whe nI cleared my fs2 folder I got rid of my mods, of course. I wanted to get the 3-6-12 media vps back and working for fs2 but when I downloaded them all off the site, it would appear in the launcher when I selected it, but it did not actually activate. Is there anyway I can download a complete pack of the 3-6-12 media vps that includes it all so its just a 1 time thing?

I can barely follow what you're doing, and it sounds like you are making things way too complicated.

Could you run a debug build again, with the MediaVPs selected as a mod, and post your log so I can figure out what's going wrong?

You should have all the files from the 3.6.12 MediaVPS (mv_root, mv_assets, mv_effects, mv_music, mv_advanced, mv_animglows) located in a folder called 'mediavps_3612' inside your FreeSpace 2 directory.

Maybe for now you should stick to mods that don't require FSPort. FS2 with MediaVPs, FS2-based mods.

Yes, there are active multiplayer communities for FreeSpace 2 and Blue Planet.

There is no permanently hosted games though. You won't necessarily see anything online whenever you go to the game lobby. IRC is the best place to organize games.
