Title: Anyone know of any good voice synthesizers?

I'm looking for a good voice synthesizer for mods that aren't voice acted. Microsoft Anna is kind of lame. Any suggestions?

You could try Google Translate-

Well...they don't sound that monotone, but sometimes the tone/pitch can be way off.

I'm looking for something that can be used in-game for briefings, com chatter, and other vocals. Most mods aren't voice acted and it's kind of annoying to have to keep pausing the game to read each new message. I'm wondering if anyone has any text-to-speech voices that they would recommend.

I remember Portal Prelude used a pretty good TTS software, I don't remember the name though.

You could give espeak a try. It's open source and available for several platforms. Check http://espeak.sourceforge.net/ (http://espeak.sourceforge.net/).
